Well it appears that no one has started a thread about the greatest golf tournament on Earth yet, so I will. I would have started it sooner, but I'm in DFW having completed week 1 of 6 week dispater school, and my access to a computer/internet is very limited.
The weather has provided firm fast conditions that is making the new Augusta (a course I believe Bobby Jones would spit upon in disgust) the most difficult it has played since the major overhaul of 2002.
Poor Brett Wettrich hung tough the first couple of days until an ugly triple bogey on the 3rd hole this morning derailed his third round. Mickelson has posted +6 for three rounds and, amazing, still has a chance to win it. As I write this, Stuart Appelby (sporting a level 2 mullet) is our leader and the only fellow under par, and of course, the striped one is still hanging around, finished at +3 for the championship.
I'm jumping on Stuart's back the rest of the way. He has been up and down with his game since he lost his wife to the car accident back in 1998, and man is talented enough and I believe ready to win a major. Anyone want to wager on the chances of someone winning with an over par score, ala US Open?
