How Many Days Holidays Will You Get This Year?

Sun Apr 08, 2007 7:18 pm

At the beginning of this tax year it was nice to find out that apart from the 26 statuatory days I get and the 4 days carried over from last year, plus the 8 days I get if i work all the bank holidays. That, this year, if I don't go sick for each 4 month period we'll get an extra day, plus another bonus day if we don't go sick all year - so, a possible 4 more.

So, it's unlikely, but I'm up for a possible 42 days Holiday this tax year - wooo-hooo!!!

Anyone else have such a contrived Holiday scheme at work?

I will get 20, whether or not I take 20, is a different story. Plus there are all the other ones that've accrued. I've only taken about 9 days since I started at the place.

Are you under pressure not to take them?

The French system is hopeless complicated, what with public holidays that get cancelled (out of solidarity with old people - excuse me, I'm old (when it suits me), how about letting me have Pentecote and making the senile old lemons who drive slowly and block the check-out queue at Carrefour do some work for a change ? < /rant >

Anyway, I get 35 days leave, plus 9 or 10 RTT days (rest days because we work 37.5 hours a week instead of 35 - which is crap because I work at least 60 hours a week !), plus public holidays, around 8 per year. It's not enough, I tell you ! I need more.  grumpy

Paid vacation after a full year of 40-hour workweeks (plus overtime): Five working days.

Yes, we earn our right to extended paid vacations here in the US, not expect it.

Happy earning then. I'll take my socialist 7 weeks paid vacation over your capitalist "take vacation when you retire" option any day  biggrin

I get 5 weeks holiday a year, then I also get roughly 2-3 weeks of comp time per year. As for paid holidays I think this year is 13 days. so about 60 some days off paid in a year. I know some employers here give up to 7-8 weeks paid holiday.

When I was living in the US, the longest job I had was about 3 years and had accumulated not even 2 weeks vacation per year. I know to get 4 weeks you had to be with the company for 15 years.

I get 1 day/year of annual vacation. My contract requires me to be "available for duty" 364 days/year - although I have written into it that I get Christmas Day off.

I get no sick time per my contract. If I fall sick and am unable to perform my job functions for any period exceeding 12 hours, my pay gets cut accordingly. If I continue to be unable to perform job functions after 72 hours, the company may exercise the right to unilaterally terminate without notice.

That said, in reality I get a very flexible option to work from virtually anywhere in the world that I can find Wifi and a cellphone signal - so I can extend my "vacations" somewhat. Even when I fall sick, they tend to give me at least 24 hours before the bean counters start talking about pay cuts.

Unlimited vacation time. I am self employed. However, since I only get paid when I work, I try to limit my time off.

Then, it seems when I plan to take a few weeks off, I get an opportunity to do a really juicy project that I don't want to pass up, thus delaying my extended vacation further!

I'm salaried, so no, I don't get any overtime. I work a rotating night/day 12 hour schedule with five days on, five off with occasional six on and six off. With a "on call" three week period every 12 week cycle, where I will work call offs and other peoples vacation, or not work at all (which is nice sometimes).

I do have 3 weeks vacation and 3 personal days a year, with acruing sick time.

Dam...I sure wish I got that many days paid vacation.

This year I should get 3 weeks, but our company was sold to new owners and I'm not sure what will happen. Last year I earned 10 days.....

I get 15 VC days, accruing as I go, so I can take them as soon as I earn them (I don't have to wait for my anniversary), 10 holidays and 10 sick days. Not bad for a first year at a new company.

I get 10 vacations days this year plus stat holidays.
I'm allowed to take one personal day a month on top of my vacation time.
So it doesn't work to too bad.

I get 4 weeks leave (20 business days), public holidays (10 days) plus our organisation is closed between 12 noon December 24 & reopens the first business day in January, so we get a few days off as well as Xmas/Boxing/New years days. Being a government organisation, we are also entitled to flex leave. Any time we work over our standard work week (37.5 hours) we accrue & are able to take time off in lieu. Most people here take 1 or 2 flex days a month.

Poor baby  sarcastic  .

Because I work for an airline, we're 24-7-365, so I get paid holidays, and paid more the ones I work (I think that's how it works). We get 2 weeks paid vacation, plus we can roll one week over to the next year, so, this year, I have 3 weeks that I can take.

I get 13 PTO 'paid time off) days max to be used for vacation or sick days plus 6 holidays. I can borrow from future PTO to a certain extent. Basically I recieve 4.33 hours of PTO for every 80 hours worked maxing out at 13 days, even though I am salary, PTO is based on hours.

If I become sick for more than 3 days, short term disabiltiy kicks in at 70% of my take home pay only after I use all my PTO. That percent can be more if I elect a deduction to my check.

Family Medical Leave Act allows for 6 weeks unpaid after all PTO used and my job is not at risk for that period.

Legally, I get 15 days (working days -- that makes it 3 weeks) for each year worked. But since I started here in February, no vacations until next year...

As for holidays, I get 10 official full-day holidays plus 3 half days (the Wednesday before Easter, which was last week; December 24th, and December 31st). However, 3 of those holidays will fall on a Saturday, so they're as good as gone.  irked
Don't expect to see me around that much (if at all) -- the contact link should still work, though.
