You don't have much trust in them.
SL are not that bad of a team, and they certainly can win the World Cup.

I think the favorites are still Australia, but they have not been defeated in a long time, it would be nice to see them loose this world cup

Alternatively, if he's not the one to drop the catch, it'd be nice of an umpire actually gave the flat-foot out lbw for once.

He has had more of the dropsies lately, but he has also been taking some impossible catches.
It what goes around comes around works, he certainly should get the finger as soon as the ball brushes his pad. Not so much the current one dayers, but the last test series decisions were unbelievable. I reckon it is because he is so big the umps don't know where the stumps are. Big grin

or in semi-final ranks:
Australia,
Sri Lanka,
New Zealand,
South Africa

Australia V South Africa (1 V 4)
Sri Lanka V New Zealand (2 V 3)

Australia has been so good that it is very hard to imagine South Africa beating them.
Sri Lanka are the bookies favourites to win against New Zealand (as SL won last time and NZ got thrashed by Australia)
however NZ will be back to full strength so I'm predicting the final will be Australia V New Zealand.

I wish it were different but it's hard to see past SRL for tonights game. It's really quite incredible how well balanced a side they are now. They do have some fragile moments, but the kiwis are more prone to such moments.

All the same, Go Black Caps!!

I guess deep down I will be the happy if Australia win,but I think for the
goodness of the game we all would like a couple of close exciting games for a change.
My world cup order is as follows:
1. AUS
2. NZ
3. SA
4. SL

Looks like the Sri Lanka batsmen got it instead. Silva and Dilshan got absolute shockers today. Still, NZ up against it needing 290 to win.

NZ must pray for rain now, Malinga has 2 maiden overs and one wicket now.
I must say that I´m deeply impressed by Vaas and Malinga, 2 wickets taken, 3 maiden overs between them.
32-2.

Dreadful display from the Black Caps. Sri Lanka are a tough team anyway, but the manner of defeat was very disappointing. Right from the start NZ seemed to freeze, their fielding was poor, their bowling was worse, and the last ten overs of the Sri Lanka innings was a complete shambles. Have the cricket team been taking psychological advice from the rugby lot?  Big grin

And now on to South Africa - Australia. Australia should win, but the Saffers are quite capable of turning them over. This one could be a cracker.

I wonder what damage M&M (Malinga and Murali) can do against Oz if Oz beat SA?
Fernando was expensive otherwise class bowling from Sri Lanka.
Neither of them played in the previous encounter with Oz in the WC, which Oz won comfortably.

I struggle to see South Africa beating Sri Lanka, but I can see South Africa beating Australia. If SA win, then my money would be on Sri Lanka to win the World Cup, if Australia win, then Australia would be marginal favourites.

I agree,
Channel 9 all bullshit with this World Cup,2003 they did well with telcasting this one they had rights firstly to telecast all matches yet they chose to only telecast super 8/finals yet they cant even be bothered doing that, only showing some of those games mostly involving Australia.

And yet they show some shithouse 4 hour quiz show everynight and than i thought Eddie Mcguire was a cricket fanatic.....

You must be joking. I've never known a player get away so consistently with stone dead lbws as Hayden. I'm not for a moment saying that he's anything other than a fine player, but it's quite incredible how umpires give him not out all the time.

It's always puzzled me, that. OK, so we've now (stupidly) got no free to air coverage at all, but it is a bit odd how cricket it just slotted in here and there irrespective of what's going on.

Are you sure you just want to send him a note? After listening to the SL innings, I realised that the ABC radio really was not giving me any sort of a feel for what was happening and gave up just after the NZ innings started. Looks as if I did not miss much.

Interesting to see if the capers with SLvsNZ make it more or less likely that Hayden will finally meet the fate for standing in front of your stumps and missing with the bat!

Silva got a huge inside edge, and Rudi gave him, whilst Dilshan's was only barely hitting another set of stumps down the legside and Taufel gave him - which to be fair, is a pretty rare error from someone who is clearly the best umpire in the world.

SA all out for 149. SA's lowest World Cup score apparently. Still it could have been worse. 150 is still something to chase and Australia does not have a good record at chasing "lowish" scores.

I reckon this one is still going to be a thriller ...

If me staying up is Australia's good luck charm then it will be SL v SA in the Final as I've had enough and am off to bed. See what the result is in the morning ...

Well there are a few bowlers in the SA squad that taken 5 wickets in 10 overs during this world cup, they need two of these, no more than
20 over can´t be allowed if they want to join Sri Lanka in the finals.
