Williams Puffs The Herb Again; Blows NFL Comeback

Sat May 12, 2007 2:27 am

ESPN reports Dolphins RB Ricky Williams flunked his wacky tobacky test in April and will, therefore, be ineligible to get reinstated in the NFL 'til September.

Maybe he can play for your fantasy baseball team. Might be worth a shot these days for you.

The Dolphins blow harder than Ricky when he is giving someone a shotgun at 4:20.

What an assmunch.....this pathetic excuse for a teammate ought to be put in a job where his wages are simply garnished for the rest of his life....the club will get more of their money back that way.

Too bad it doesn't snow in Miami. They could hire him to drive the snow-thrower onto the field just before Dolphin field goal attempts. tongue

Understand Canada is wonderful in the fall...of course with the stricter rules for entry in Canada, maybe be won't be able to play for the CFL either.

Not only that, but his positive test came in the same week that he said his interest in eastern philosophy had overcome his desire for mind-altering substances.

Let him go back to teaching yoga. i heard it's just as lucrative as a contract to play pro football.

Last year the CFL put a rule in place banning players suspended from other professional leagues from playing in the CFL while their other suspensions were in place. So he will NOT be suiting up for the Argos again.

I love my weed but for the kinda dough on offer I would be able tom kick the habbit.

To me, Ricky Williams has a very serious mental health problem underlying his continued use of pot despite the conquences. Sadly, the Dolphins were so despirate for a decent running back, that they were willing to look away of his apparently very risky character problems and offer him too much money. I do believe Williams should be sued by the 'Fins for or offer to give back most of the money he got from the Dolphins as he didn't live up to his part of the contract with his beheavor. I also believe that somehow he needs long term, residential, professional mental health and drug addiction hospitization. He still has many years to live I suspect, but he won't last much longer if he keeps tripping on weed.

I was just thinking the only chance he has of affecting the outcome of a football game these days would be to get busted in MA.  Smile

He has made the point by his actions that he would rather smoke up than play football. The issue is that he owes the dolphins $8 million for the season he missed and Miami wants that $$ back and have told him that. IMO the NFL's substance abuse policy is stupid as weed doesn't help you play better and it is the equivalent of a Steroids suspension which does help you play better and I'm in favour of that being banned but a recreational drug like weed isn't a big deal.

However on that note if you are going to play football for millions of $$ then not getting high is a small sacrifice and it is a rule you need to follow even though its stupid.

While the obvious tact would be to post the Nelson "HA-HA" picture, StarAC17 does bring up a good point:

I bet if you tested the entire league with a pop wizz quiz in the middle of the season, you'd have to ban so many players that they'd have to scrap the season.

If you can be a big time star in the NFL while being high, I say more power to you. Look, I don’t want Ricky to be my Sunday school teacher, my babysitter, my physician, my President, nor my role model. I just want him to entertain me by scoring touchdowns and making big time plays. As long as he’s not testing positive for performance enhancing drugs, I could care less what he puts into his body during his personal time. Now if Dolphins management has a rule against smoking marij then, I believe Ricky must abide by that rule before he is allowed to play for the Dolphins. But why should the NFL intervene, in what should be a Dolphins matter?

The NFL players union negotiates with the NFL not individual teams on everything including drug policy. NFL rules apply to all players and cannot be overridden by an individual team or Tank Johnson would be playing all year for the Bears.

Ah shit! The Dolphins are driving me up the damn wall with this crap. The only thing that makes me feel halfway decent about this issue is that we have Ronnie Brown at RB and if he can stay healthy he'll be ok.

Someone please just shoot Ricky Williams for being so damn stupid.
