Australia, Not For Lovers?

Sat May 19, 2007 10:18 pm

Heard on the radio this morning that Jessica Simpson and John Mayer broke up after a trip to Australia. (Rise up boys, Simpson is free  Wink )

Then the radio commentator asked, "What is it about Australia that breaks people up? Nicole Ritchie just broke up with her lover after a trip downunder too. Better be careful if you go down there!"

I thougt about it for a second and it's a bit comical.

I went to Australia with my wife(then girlfriend) after 2 years of dating. We walked about the continent for a month and came home together. The trip was great.

Nowadays, when people ask, "How did you know she/he was the one?" we reply, "We survived traveling a month together on a long trip without a hitch. We figure, if we didn't come remotely close to killing each other on the trip, that was a great sign Wink"

So maybe that's the underlying breakpoint? Or maybe it's those Aussie men, that my wife loves, that are behind the heartbreak?

Perhaps the long travel time for such visitors from North America or Europe, the wack out of your time cycles, and maybe being too togetether too much in a concentrated time period may all add up to stress that may break up a couple that may have underlying problems.

Perhaps Australia has become the "it" place for celebrities to "break up."
I lift things up and put them down.

I think the issue is the people in question breaking up. If I was stuck on a trip with Jessica Simpson, after I achieved the point of severe fatigue from other things, I would probably want to choke her just to get her to stop saying stupid crap.

Anyone who can spend more than an hour in a room with Nicole Ritchie and not kill her deserves a medal. Whoever the guy was would have split with her annoying ass if they were stuck being around each other regardless of where they are.

Any celebrity relationship has underlying problems- namely the 2 people in the relationship. The trip just magnifies the problem, it doesn't matter where they go.
Things were better when it was two guys in a dorm room.

No it's not for lovers. We've got a Sheila shortage, so strapping young lads like myself out number the ladies. Which is a bit disconcerting, especially when you go into pubs and clubs etc.

Some truth there that trips, the longer ones in particular, often add certain stresses to test a relationship.

I just got back from Sydney, and I can say that the Australian girls love American guys. I had no problems.

I have a hugh red patch of dry skin on my lip. By the way she was talking, I think what was in my pants was of more interest. Although she was convinced I was gay as I was too well dressed. I hardly call sneakers, jeans and a t-shirt well dressed.
