Need Help From London People

Wed May 23, 2007 9:45 am

Hi all,

New a.netter here. I will be traveling to London tomorrow for 10 weeks for a study program from my university. Any Londoners have any good sights to share? Must see things? Good food? Tips? HELP!

My flat (dorm) is in Kensington area. Anybody want to show me the must sees?

And I know how much we hate double posts, the last one is early April, but I'm looking for more young things to do, I'm 20.

you've got 10 weeks in london. Just explore! You don't seem pressed for time, so you can see pretty much everything.

First, to get your bearings and stuff, check out the free and great museums: British Museum, Tate, Tate Modern, V and A, etc.

There some great shopping in the regent st. and oxford areas, lots of shoe places and hip clothes places.

Ten weeks means just enjoy yourself. Your location is an excellent one, and the Natural History Museum is round the corner from you for a start.

There are endless guides to London and the tube maps point out all the places of interest. Pick up an Oyster Card which will give you cheapish tube and bus fares and away you go.

You'll have a ball. London is a fantastic city to spend an extended period of time in, and the only worry I would have is that you'll spend so much time enjoying yourself you'll end up not seeing the sights you wanted to, so make a point of doing so.

London's markets are wonderful. My two favourites are Borough Market (Waterloo) or Camden Market especially on Sundays. Trying to get out of Camden Town tube station is an experience in itself.

Borough Market (Waterloo)

That'd be a bit of a trek. London Bridge would be much better, surely?

Oh yes, that's right. Or Borough station on the Northern line City branch. Last time I went there, I think I must have walked over the river.

True enough - however on a nice day the walk along the south bank from the London Eye (close to Waterloo station) right along the river is a very nice thing to do in its own right away from all the traffic on the roads.
Just when I thought I could see light at the end of the tunnel, it was some B*****d with a torch bringing me more work
