What's Your Blood Pressure?

Wed May 23, 2007 2:31 pm

I just had mine checked - 126/82, with a pulse rate of 72 beats per minute.

What about some of my fellow A.netters?

Mine's higher than normal. But I attribute that to stressing too much over things.

Maybe because you've been too busy "hitting it"? ......  Wink  Big grin

I haven't had mine checked in a couple of months, but it was pretty well normal, so no worries for me.

112 over 72

The message you were about to post is too short and probably not of any higher value to the topic at hand. You should think long and hard before posting a message in this forum and make it detailed and a valuable addition to the topic discussed.

Avoid posting "Me Too" messages. These are messages that are posted by people who agree to a point being discussed and post a one liner, "me too!", "Good post Jim!", "I disagree" or similar message. This takes up time as readers must sort through these messages which have no real value to the group at large. Any message containing nothing more than a line or two of text is probably not worth posting.

If you have an opinion on a topic, you should in detail express why you have the opinion and what made you come to that conclusion.

Your post should be relevant to the topic discussed.

Yea, yea, yea, yea, yea. Now my blood pressure has gone up.  Big grin

Interesting question.

I usually have 13/8, but as I'm an easy stressed guy, it climbs easily to 14 or 15, especially when I'm in front of a physician ... Not nice.
The new "standards" are that over 12/8 (or 120/80), you are already in pre-hypertension.  Sad This simple thought raises my tension.

The same for me, and I'm trying to cure myself: Infusions of olive tree, homeopathie against stress, less salt, less beer, cycling nearly every day, more time to relax during the week. I think it's working.

Mine probably is too, although I haven't had it checked in a while.

I attribute mine to having a teenage son....  Silly

Probably right.

The fact that I have 3 kids, the oldest a pre-teenager of 10 years, and the youngest a sleep killer of 16 months isn't helping me to keep cool.

Before I got on meds I was averaging about 140/100, and I was getting blinding headaches on a regular basis along with poor sleep and a lot of night sweats. I started with Benicar a year ago and my blood pressure is usually around 110/70, sometimes a little higher and sometimes a little lower. The stuff is nasty smelling-when you open the bottle it smells like rotten meat. However, since I started taking the stuff I rarely have headaches and I sleep better.

On the other hand if I lost forty pounds I probably wouldn't need the stuff.

I'm usually around 140/85 ... which is already a little bit on the high side. Unfortunately it tends to climb even further in front of a physician (I think I have so-called "white coat hypertension" - I really feel my heart pounding in my chest when I'm in the MD's office). It can be fun when I have to renew the medical certificate for my PPL - the MD has to try calming me down for 10 minutes until he gets sensible readings. Oh well  Smile

On a whim, almost 2 years ago, I went in to get mine checked, because someone at work, had elevated blood pressure, and I wanted to get mine checked before I had to get my medical renewed. It was a shocking 200/110. On the meds it's around 135/85.

No idea to be honest. I never check it unless I am getting a physical or end up in the hospital. I can tell you it raises when I am in europe or latin america though lol.

I and another nursing student were practising taking manual blood pressure (stethoscope and cuff) the other day and my blood pressure was 130/75. My pulse is usually 80-90 when I have it checked.

My school books say that a blood pressure of 140/90 and higher over an extended period of time is a warning sign that one may require medications to lower the blood pressure. I have had patients come in with 225/115... now wonder they have a headache...
Come, fly the prevailing winds with me
