Power Supplies In SXM

Mon May 28, 2007 10:57 am

Howdy all,

BAB's post about London got me thinking. I'm going to SXM on Tuesday, are the power outlets the same I'd find in the US? If so, do they have only the two prongs, or the three? If not, what sort of converter would I need?

Thanks a lot!

Cheers,
Cameron

It would probably be best to check with your hotel, but when I was there a few years ago, they used the Euro 2-prong round size. BUT, the current is U.S.-style 120-volt 50 cycles on the Dutch side, and 220-volt 60 cycles on the French side. My hotel on the Dutch side had a few U.S. style outlets, since the majority of guests were American timeshare owners.

Be careful on what you say, when you ask. A converter when dealing with this topic is a transformer that converts one voltage to another. A plug adapter is something that goes on the end of your plug, and then plugs into the wall. Most electrical items nowdays can handle the 220-240/50-60 hertz power. Check your items to be sure. Plug adapters can be had at Radio Shack.
