What Do You Have To Do But Hate Doing?

Tue May 29, 2007 2:31 am

Right now I'm revamping my resume. I hate redoing this pos paper that nobody ever really reads. I know they dont because they always ask me if I have experience with something that is clearly written on it and then assume I'm an engineer (I'm not).

[Edited for office space quote] Well... well look. I already told you: I deal with the god damn customers so the engineers don't have to. I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people! Can't you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people? [/edit]

So what do you dread the most but have to do?

Really, I loathe that even more than cleaning the flat every three weeks when it's on me. It seems such a waste of time, but unless I want to wear T-shirts all the time and never any jeans, I'll have to do it.

What part of that demonstrates people skills? Referring to the 'god damn customers', or asking 'what the hell is wrong with you people?'

Work. If I get on a press next to the right people, it can make for an enjoyable night at work though. One of the new guys gets horrifyingly pissed off at whatever press he's on... it's rather entertaining to watch.

Going to the doctor once a month. It's ridiculous. Takes a half a day of my time for a 20 min. appointment just to get a refill. And don't start me on the pill counts. My neighbor happens to go to the same pain clinic, and she keeps a two-week supply on hand just for pill counts. They've never noticed she keeps bringing the same pills for counting over and over again. LOL.

Next Friday I have to attend a concert of my best friend's band in some hicksville in Lower Saxony (thanks God for the navigation system in my car!). The concert begins at 10 PM and will last approx. 3 hours, after the concert we've to drive back to my friend's apartment, the ride will also take approx. 1.5 hours, I can't even drink a beer there because I have to drive back.  grumpy

Anyway, he's my best friend and I am doing it gladly for him despite I am not looking really forward to spend a Friday night with driving around in the middle of nowhere.

Everything... OK really

Hand-washing dishes: That was the only chore my parents could never get me to do, regardless of punishment. They could ground me, not let me use the car, not feed me... didn't matter. I would not do it under any circumstance. Now that I have my own place, and not everything fits in the dishwasher, I have to do it.

Laundry: I don't dislike doing laundry, the only kicker to that is my washer/dryer are two flights down, and I have to carry all that shit down the stairs.... which are inevitably blocked with shoes/boxes/dead bodies/kidnapping victims my stupid neighbors seems to leave in the middle of the stairway just so I can trip on them.

I hate the following:

- Washing the SUV. I could have it professionally detailed, but I don't have that kind of money.

- Medical exams, especially for my FAA medical certificate.

- Laundry.

- When my cat was alive, cleaning out her litter box. That job involved a clothes pin on the nose and holding my breath.
I lift things up and put them down.

I have no idea what the name of the village is but the closest bigger city is apparently Einbeck. I already looked on a map, seems that I have to drive on the A44 till it ends, then on the A7 (a new Autobahn for me) till Einbeck, and then another couple of kilometers on some Land- or Bundesstrasse.  crazy  I could kill my friend's bandmate who organized the gig there... on the other hand I have full trust in my navi system.  Wink

Ah, my hometown. I actually thought so. Big grin Tell me if you like the beer which you'll undoubtedly get at that gig.

Coming from the A44, you might want to check the ride through the "Solling" which is a couple of hills west of the river Weser. I went to Soest once and tok that route, if you don't mind narrow winding roads but enjoy them, you should give the small - and I mean really small - roads there a try. If you just want to "get there", then the A7 will be a better bet indeed. Exit "Northeim Nord" is where your routing thingy will probably send you, "Northeim West" is what we locals use. Oh, and do enjoy the "Kasseler Berge" if the route takes you through them, the A7 there was built at record speed to impress Hitler but he was rather unimpressed when he noticed the heavy military trucks couldn't get up there. Made for one unhappy "Gauleiter" as the story goes.

Yeah, just get there and back, as fast and comfortable as possible! Too bad that we don't have more time to check out the area.  Sad The concert is on Friday evening so we (especially moi) have to drive a rather long distance after work which I don't fancy at all... especially on a Friday night.  Wink

Well, I love my job.....and although it is an effort some mornings!!

I must say that the think I hate the most is doing LAUNDRY!!! I live in an apartment and have to either use the machines in the basement which is a real pain in the ass or I take my stuff to the laundry matt.....which is better because I can get everything done at once....

So the one thing that I hate doing but have to is .....Laundry!!

Printing.

In my job, I have to print out patents for drugs/chemicals, and then analyse them and then write a report including an analysis of what the patent claims, and work out and publish when the patent will expire.

I enjoy that part, the tedious part is the endless printing out of the actual patent documents, one page at a time.

I also dislike doing daundry, however luckily for me, there is a pub next to the laundrette and the whole process takes a couple of hours = pints.

I also dislike waiting for buses. In London, having a car is out of the question, and I work only a couple of miles (Baker Street) from where I live (Camden Town). The damned 390 bus (Archway Station to Notting hill Gate) is always, and I mean always, late!

But usually, their alcohol consumption is recreational and not intended to get them wasted, and while I was still in highschool I didn't really hear a lot of "A beat B that night and now B's got a broken nose" stories... off the top of my head, I can't remember a single one.

and while I was still in highschool I didn't really hear a lot of "A beat B that night and now B's got a broken nose" stories... off the top of my head, I can't remember a single one.

Sounds good, I'll leave the baseball bat at home then.

I remember one "Schützenfest" in a village near Paderborn some years ago, most of the guys drunk hard booze the whole evening and at around 11 PM they went outside to fight for no reason, funny as hell those kiddos.  rotfl

I actually enjoy washing my truck, I don't do the auto-wash, I use the hose and make it a point to wash and wax it in the driveway at least once a year.

The problem with mine comes when it's time to dry it. It has a lot of nooks and crannies where water will hide until the vehicle is completely dry. Then comes the dripping.

I swear, when I start shopping for a new vehicle, I'm going to forget the test drive and instead test wash it.
I lift things up and put them down.
