Germany is well on the fast track for Euro 2008 qualification. We finished this football year in first place of Group D and just need a mimimum of 3 consecutive wins (though we all prefer if we'd win all of the remaining 5 matches  Wink ) to clinch our spot in Austria and Switzerland.

Apart from Germany, I'm expecting a great performance by Switzerland next year (minimum semifinals), since host countries have always been strong in home tournaments, though, and I'm sorry to say that, I don't think Austria has what it takes and will likely end their participation in the first round. Thus, France, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, maybe even the Netherlands will be the teams to watch next year, plus there may be the big surprise of Israel playing in a Euro for the first time in history, since they look likely to qualify at the moment. Teams like England and Italy, if they do qualify, will be the ones to disappoint the most.

Yes they are indeed very likely to qualify ! That would be very interesting actually...and them qualifying would most likely mean........ no England .............................

I'm really praying that England don't qualify. It's the only way the FA will fire Steve McClown.

Yeah, and what's up with McClaren recalling Beckham? That guy hasn't done much on a club level, so why would a manager, in his right mind, recall him, apart from his name meaning big money?

Maybe England should make Terry Venables its manager again. That guy was very successful in 96.

Actually, I think it was a wise move. Beckham has been directly involved with 3 of the 4 goals scored in the two games he's played since he was recalled, and I still maintain that there is no other English player who can cross a ball with the same pinpoint accuracy as Beckham. He's not nearly as good as he used to be, but he's still better than most right midfielders and still deserves his place in the squad.

I don't know. Judging from the CL games involving Real Madrid which I saw, I haven't seen much of him, but I do admit that he has had an impact. Let's see how he will do when he finally moves to the LA Galaxy this year.

He spent a bit of time out injured, and I think only started 9 games for Real Madrid this year, all of them league games, not CL. But of those games, from what I saw on FSC and Fox Football Friday and various other highlight shows, he was pretty immense in those games. I hope that run of form continues in to his time at the Galaxy, as I'm a season ticket holder and want to finally see some decent football this season. Grrr!

Yeah. They really seem to be in a slump right now. The commentators from an LA Galaxy game I partly saw recently, were saying that there have been many management related errors made which seem to have crippled the team, and they were blaming Alexi Lalas for it, though they did admit that the only good move from Lalas was to get Beckham to play for the Galaxy.

LOL! Don't worry, I get that all the time, from my bank (when transfering the money for the ticket) to my colleagues to my friends.  Smile

It was a smart move, supported by his teammates. Beckham has been one of the main reasons for Real's resurgence and challenge for La Liga.

That is completely untrue of late. His play at Madrid over the last month and a half has been nothing less than world class. I am excited to see if he keeps this form up for the Galaxy

Try GolTV!, they cover most of the games from La Liga.

Erm, look again.  Yeah sure

Scotland is not even in the top two of Group B right now. France is leading that group with Italy second.

In Group B, Italy, France, Scotland and the Ukraine all have chances of making it to the Euro 08. So everything is still open for Scotland despite them not being in first or second place at the moment. Anyways I'd rather have the Scots in town than those Campionis...  Wink

True, but at least France should make it. I wouldn't miss Italy if they do qualify after what they did to us in the World Cup (and I don't mean what they did to us on the pitch).
