Discount Tire Center...Poor Customer Service

Tue Jun 19, 2007 2:34 am

I recently bought new tires for my car. And this past weekend while breaking them in I decided to try a high speed test. I noticed that between 96mph-104mph there is a shimmy and vibration in the front wheels. I just went back to complain and the sales clerk said.."Well your not supposed to drive that fast" I said that is an irregardless point, its a 149 mph tire and there should be no vibration, he still refused to rebalance my wheels. I am going to refuse to pay the bill when it comes in until they make it right.

"Sir, is there any justified reason for you driving over 100 mph today?"
"Yeah, I'm testing these new tires"
"License and proof of insurance please. I'll be right back"

Although in Virginia, it would have been a reckless driving ticket.

AA787823 - pay the bill, you have no case.

You can't blame the tires. There could be something off with your alignment, shocks, struts, etc. The tires didn't fly off or go flat. They're perfectly fine.

Plus, "discount" and "tires" should never go into the same sentence.
if assumptions could fly, airliners.net would be the world's busiest airport

What is wrong with people's command of the English language? That's the 4th time I've come across this psuedo-word this morning.

Duh, well your cheap ass is at fault for two reasons.

#1 - you can be pretty sure that anything with "Discount" in its name has poor customer service.

#2 - you could have easily said that you noticed shaking when you drove away and omitted the part about driving 100+ mph. I'm sure they would have been happy to look at the tires again. There is no reason to even mention the speed unless you were trying to impress someone. Note: no one is impressed by some jerkoff going 40 mph over the speed limit.

I did not get a ticket at all. And even though I still paid $151.00 per tire that was still a discount. I will check struts and such, but they were fine before I put on the new rubber. Anyway I still think they mis balanced the wheels when they mounted the new tires, irregardless of what the clerk said.
