French Socialists:one Year To Annalyse Defeat...

Sat Jun 23, 2007 8:24 pm

Today ,Francois Hollande ,chairman of the French Socialist party, has announced to set up a commission to analyse the last defeat during the presidential elections...
The "reflections" should take one year to..".. understand why we have lost...!!!!!"
Ségolène Royal has decided not to attend the parties congress tomorrow-indicating she could not care less...
A great example of French Socialist political practice, intelligence and endeavor...United we die !
If it takes them one year to understand why they have lost,no wonder.....

Quoting Beaucaire (Thread starter):

That might explain why they're so reluctant to unite in the first place...!  mischievous

It's not proven that if the party were united, coherent and powerful, it would have won... May not have anything to do with the party but with the French people's direction and wishes...

The socialists have lost? Since France was pushing so hard for any reference to competition to be dropped from the resurrected EU "constitution" one would think otherwise...

This seems to be a general problem with the non-communist (Stalinist, Maoist, Trotzkist, Leninist) left. They tend to argue among each other and tend to split into small factions.
The communists and the conservatives have usually a much more authoritarian mindset, they follow whoever is the boss and don't fight in public.

Two days ago Ségolène Royal admitted on TV that during the presidential campaign she was forced by Laurent Fabius (left-wing Socialist fraction,PM under Mitterand....) to suggest a 1500 € SMIC or minimal salary(currently about 1100 € ).
Personally she though that would have been a bad idea, but since the left-wingers within the party imposed it to her,she defended it.So she openly admitted that she lied to the voters, since she would not have pursued the change once elected.
Sarkozy has always said he would do what he promised and it looks he will precisely follow that line.
The credibility of the French Socialist's is not represented by the last votes, since many of the voters that voted for the Socialists during the second tour of the Parliament elections last Sunday voted just Socialist for balance-reasons within the Assemblyé but not because they ware impressed with the PS.
