Oh, the Spice Girls were always just a bit of fun, and they knew it/know it. I mean, did anyone ever claim they had much talent? They had a couple of fun songs written for them among the tripe, and the spice movie was funny and clever because it didn't take itself too seriously. I can think of many groups that are much lamer, yet currently quite trendy. Plus, I always found Scary very sexy--even if Sporty aparently had to explain to her who Gordon Brown was at their press conference yesterday.

What kind of world do we live in where the Spice Girls re-unite, but the Clash and Led Zeppelin never did? banghead
But that's exactly the point. Imagine what a sore disappointment it would have been if those greats had
reuinted: besides the "sellout" accusations that would automatically have followed, they would have been shadows of their former selves--and they knew it. The very best groups are usually the ones who perceive/recognize when what they have stops working as well, for whatever reason, and choose to leave their admirers wanting more, rather than wishing they hadn't recorded their latest album. The Spice Girls, on the other hand, have almost nothing to lose.
