Naming My Third Child, Suggestions

Thu Jul 05, 2007 5:03 am

# 3 is due early September and the wife and i are having some trouble coming up with names.

We've had 2 ultrasounds and both times the sex was not revealed by the little baby. Playing shy or being a trouble maker already?  Wink

my first two kids are named Simone Adele and Yvonne Nova.

I'm leaning towards names like Maximilian, Alexander, Katerina.

I know this has been done before in other threads, but we're having a little more trouble this time around.

Any help?
I am so smart, i am so smart... S-M-R-T... i mean S-M-A-R-T

Charm?

The message you were about to post is too short and probably not of any higher value to the topic at hand. You should think long and hard before posting a message in this forum and make it detailed and a valuable addition to the topic discussed.

Your name is Andreas - how about Andrea (if girl), or maybe Johan (if boy).  duck

Just don't make it something you think you may regret. Or the kid - my  twocents , don't make it a name that can rhyme with a bunch of other things.

I would go with "Maxwell" if I was going to call him "Max"...

Katerina

I wouldn't, only because of the potential "Katerina"/Hurricane "Katrina" connection

Check the initials while you're at it... you don't want anything 'teasable' there either - although with 2 kids already I'm sure you're aware of that

I like that name - i doubt many people would make the reference to Hurricane Katrina. It's a nice name that works for a young person or an older person.

And maybe they didn't. Just blow off the people who might/do tease you. And if they're incessant, tell them your folks had your birth names in mind while they were eating some sweet, chocolatey Mars. Ok, that stunk, but people who tease you aren't worth your breath, and it's up to you to let them know that.

No matter which name you choose, be sure to give it the "Back Porch Test": Picture yourself shouting that name from your back porch at the top of your lungs just as it's getting dark some summer night. If you feel the slightest bit embarassed or if you think the child will cringe when they hear their entire name broadcast across the neighborhood in that manner, then go with another name.

By the way, I like "Alexander" for a boy's name as well.  Smile

Only half-serious, but I always thought a sweet French name is Dartagnan. Doesn't work as well in English, pronounced "dartanian", but in French it's pretty bad-ass, excuse my language.

Aileena is common but unusual, and I was unable to find any bad usages of it when I did some checking on web for them before they confirmed name...

Of course girls will give you a big smile, but I have derived great joy from having the mixture we have. There are just some things that us boys like that girls will not be that interested in. But as you and I know, all that matters is that a healthy baby is the end result.

Quoting YooYoo (Reply 35):
We said 2 is enough a few years ago and look where we are now.

Yes, you have one kid and figure out that you cannot be busier. Then the second one comes and you realize how easy it was to have only one. Once you can handle the two, you go and realize that 'perhaps' a third one would give you that one chance to enjoy the early years again, and after all, you do a simple math equation.

1 kid = 100% work
2 kids = 100% more work than before (especially at the beginning)
3 kids = 33% more work only, since you already have two at 66%

We DID do this calculation!

Have fun!
