Yesterday Metallica played in Vienna to one of the largest audiences any concet can take, as part of their Sick of the Studio tour. No wonder they're still around after 25 years. They sounded absolutely awesome, vocals were amazing, lead and solo guitar, drums, and their new bassist. The band was tight, and simply blew the stage away for 2h30min, never saw an enthusiastic audience like that, people were flying around The audience was like a turbulent sea, where periodical massive waves of laughing "pushers" carry you 20 meters away in one second, I moved some few hundred meters from the beginning to the end due to these sudden violent crowd "waves". Even they were very impressed, and in the end they lingered much longer before leaving. James couldn't hide his surprise and didn't stop praising the audience, it was singing the songs louder than him.
Now I understand what makes them rock on for so long with continuing success. It was obvious that off stage, they're very clear headed professionals who get things done with no nonsense.
It's the biggest concert I've been to, and I've been to alot! It was a sea of mad people. I mean, when Metallica themselves are impressed with the enthusiasm of the audience...
