Top 10 Cheating Ncaa Football Programs

Mon Jul 16, 2007 4:45 pm

Anyone else see this? CBS Sportsline link

LMAO! Texas' two main rivals are two of the top 8 most cheating programs. I love the quote for the Aggies, "Might deserve a higher slot, but the Aggies' cheat-to-win ratio is low. In other words, it hasn't been money well spent." Classic! Poor Aggies!!!!!!

Whaddya think?

Almost every top 40 football schools most likely cheat. No surprise there.

But you know Vince Young had to have received some kind of gift at UT

I have to agree with Alabama and Auburn being up there at the top. Those two go back and forth with their cheating that they make it an art form.

I hate to bring it up since we didn't make the list but IIRC we at Florida have the record for most violations at one time with 104 or so back in the 80s. Luckily we've cleaned up our act a huge amount.

If you're not cheating, you're not trying.....
and it's only cheating if you get caught.

Washington is #7. What the heck? The former AD is the one that caused the problems at UW (Bringing on Neuheisel was sort of a mistake...) Thank god she is gone.

WTF

Where is USC in this list? They'e football program is riddled with dirty dealings. God I swear the media is always kissing their ass.

Its too bad that Syracuse doesn't cheat; maybe that would help us win more than one football game per season (sarcasm).

Hardly invalid!!!

SMU remains the only school to date to ever get the "death penalty" by the NCAA.

The impact of that remains today--it almost destroyed the entire athletic program, decimating what used to be a top tier football program too. That was a precedent that they've never repeated.

Sadly, they SHOULD repeat it--scuttle Miami and a few other programs to clean up college sports.

Major inconsistencies with that list.

Why isn't O$U on there, especially after the Mo Clarett scandal?

Other than the Pell Grant Scandal of the early-90s, Miami has kept it's nose clean, people just don't like the Showboat Canes of the 1980s, can't see why it's #6.

Bad list, almost as bad as the Top 10 teams list I read by the local newspaper editor here yesterday.

Not surprised that Alabama was #1 and Auburn was #2 on that list. If the list was a top 15, I'm sure a few more SEC schools would have been in the list. Georgia definitely would have been on it, quite a few slaps on the wrist in the past during the Vince Dooley years, and then with his successor Ray Goff. And who can forget about Jim Harrick's time in Athens, especially the exploits of his son Jim Jr. (Paying the $300 phone bill of Tony Cole, teaching a basketball class where all of the students were players and were given easy tests.). The men's basketball team forfeited about 30 games from several seasons he was the coach, and the school voluntarily pulled the team from not only the 2003 SEC Basketball Tournament, but all post-season tournaments that year. Some say that had they not done that, the school probably would have been hit pretty hard.

As an MSU student, I really hope Raffy didn't do it.

Why is Auburn number two?

Why is MSU even mentioned? We had a bowl ban for one year (not that we were in danger of getting a bowl bid anyway) and lost a few scholarships for 2-3 years...hardly the "NCAA death penalty" that Ole Miss fans were hoping for. I am unaware of other "serious" infractions...especially in baseball or basketball.

All Southern institutions? Interesting.

And, remember, Oklahoma used to be part of the So We Cheat conference, probably the most cheat-filled conference of all-time.

Of course, if this were basketball, we could put UNLV right on top.  Big grin

They weren't as bad as made out to be.
The establishment didn't like to see a small school take things by force like they did.
One of the NCAA investigators referred to Tark as a "Carpet Vendor" so it's not like he was dealing with the most scrupulous people.

UCLA cheated a lot more than UNLV, yet Wooden was adored so nothing happened.

UNLV just got singled out, so did Tark.

I can't buy that, although my dad says that wen the Wizard of Westwood finally dies-if ever-a lot of crap about UCLA will come out. UNLV was a rotten program under Tark, and I think they deserve to be on top of that pile.

Not necessarily. For as rich as UT's alumni basis is, I doubt they'd be able to compete, money-wise, with an NFL-level contract all the while staying legit to NCAA rules. Besides, what do you do after you win a national championship? You have nothing left to prove. I have no basis to say this except skepticism, but I doubt there is a squeaky-clean D-I program left.

On that I agree. I can remember a few years back-maybe 15, UK got off with a slap of the wrist for some major violations. At the same time, the NCAA slapped the Death Penalty on Cleveland State, for violations that didn't even approach the the crime, as it were (something about Manut Bol working out there while under scholarship somewhere else-he never played at CSU). It effectively destroyed that program, over nothing, and that program has never recovered.

The NCAA is a political nightmare.
