Ruths Chris was a damn good steak, but nothing extraordinary that would justify the cost for me. (3 of us on a work dinner spent $300ish on 3 meals and 2 bottles of wine).

If I'm not going to do it myself on the grill, then Outback makes a pretty good steak that suits me just fine.

Clearman's North Woods Inn

This is a Southern California chain of about 3 restaurants. Excellent steak.
Believe it or not, it's about 90 degrees in this photo. That is fake snow.

Pinnacle Peaks.
Also found in Southern California.
Do not wear a necktie hear or else they'll cut it off.
Me and Matt D went to both places a year & a half ago.
Great times and great food. I think I had the Cowboy or the Porter house.
I think Matt D ate the Cowgirl.
This was before he married Jen.  Wink

Ruth Chris is too fancy and a bit over-priced and not the best steak. I don't want my steak made by some culinary academy trained chef. I want my steak made by an angry tobacco chewing redneck that begins every sentence with "God damn it..." and wears a huge belt buckle!

I'm with you on Ruths Chris. It's good, but unless I'm non someone else's dime, it's not worth the money. My 2 favorites are Tahoe Joes and Texas Roadhouse. I used to be a huge Logan's Roadhouse fan, but since I've been to Texas, Logans just has something missing.....

Hmmm now I need to convince the wife to find a babysitter so we can go have a good steak! There's the downside of having 2 kids under 3 years old!  Smile

Linda's La Cantina in Orlando. No atmosphere, old waitresses, 70s decor only recently updated but the best damn steaks in all of Orlando, nee, the world!

They've been around for 50 years or so and I've been going with my family (who was going before I came along) for 30+ years. Now that I live in Atlanta I always make it a point to go here when visiting family in Orlando. Get the T-Bone and you won't be disappointed.

You need to get out more. They make a good steak but nothing out of the ordinary for the price you pay.

I'm not a steak eater but I judge steak houses on their chicken and side dishes.

I am tied between two of my favorites.

BLT Steak---had the Ritz-Carlton n Puerto Rico. Had amazing side dishes and great service.

The Palm--Also had in Puerto Rico...great chicken but not as great sides.

I do also like Ruth's Chris (despite the cost, but at $2=£1 that's not such a big deal).

Kahootz Pub & Eatery in Meridian, Idaho.

Only one of it's kind in the world.

The steaks are great, very good fresh salads, and they have tons of microbrew on tap.

Texas Roadhouse is pretty good also, but the best are the ones I cook on the barbecue in the back yard...  praise

Pat's steakhouse in Louisville.

Dark. Lots of wood. Awesome beef. Great sides. Less expense and leaps and bounds better than Ruth's.

In the US (NYC) it's definitely Ruth's Chris for me, eventhough I've only been there on vacation and could only try out a few steak houses.

In Switzerland it'll be the Buffalo Grill in Davos.

CJ's Bar And Grille in Billings, Montana.

Greatest restaurant anywhere.
I usually don't get steak, I get Brisket, but their meats are the best anywhere.
Any of you guys ever make it there, I highly recommend it.

Their BBQ....I'd drive the 1500 or so miles over there today if I could just to get some.

A great steak can stand on it's own with only a minimum of spices. Start with a quality, marbled meat and cook it over wood/charcoal...you'll never use steak sauce again.

I really don't have a favorite steak house, as I prefer to cook my own steaks at home. Although I may have to start considering going out for a steak if the price of a t-bone at the grocery store we get out meat at keeps going up. The last time I cooked steaks, it cost close to $20 for two nice sized t-bone steaks (One for myself and my grandparents split one.). That's still cheaper than it would cost for one person to go to a steakhouse and eat.

Of the places I've eaten a steak at over the years, my top two are Delmonico's in Las Vegas and Stoney River, a small 10 restaurant chain with locations in Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

http://www.stoneyriver.com/

I've actually gotten a pretty good steak at of all places, a strip club, I mean, a Gentleman's Club. While some of the more upscale establishments have fine dining, this particular one wasn't one of those type of places. It was better than one you might get at Outback, Longhorn, Ryan's, and other chain places.

We had a place in SoCal called Cask and Cleaver while I was growing up (there was one I believe in Ontario, and one near Pasadena). They had great steaks. I gotta go back to Clearman's one of these days, though.....thanks for the reminder, Larry!

My vote goes for Morton's. I enjoy eating out at Ruth Chris every once and a while, but I find the quality of the meat and service to be a bit better at Morton's.

I am hoping to try Fleming's over the next couple of weeks.

There is one here in Arizona if you are not talking about that one. The steak is good but not great. Then again people eat there more so for the ambiance and the "cowboy" experience than the food.

There is one here in Arizona if you are not talking about that one. The steak is good but not great. Then again people eat there more so for the ambiance and the "cowboy" experience than the food.

Is that the one at Trail Dust Town in Tucson? If so, we ate there a month or so ago during our SoCal roadie:

The food was OK, and the place had a certain charm to it. My kids, though, loved the mini-train...
