Arghhh... I Hate That Celebrex Commercial

Sat Jul 28, 2007 1:23 pm

Does Pfizer really think anyone is going to watch a 150 second commercial? Add to the fact that it's filled with loads of medical terminology. And that the animation is crappy. AND that it's intolerably boring.

Most people that need Celebrex are over the age of 60. My mom tried to watch it. They lost her attention after the first use of "NSAID." That's a whole 6 seconds into the ad. I pity the poor old lady who's hard of hearing and has a touch of Alzheimer's.

And whoever did the animation made the guy riding the bike appear to enjoy the stick up his ass. And the poor dog moves like he needs to be put out of his misery.

I think all the new medical terminology is now required by the FDA for Celebrex after the Vioxx debacle.

I would think the Celebrex ad would scare people from trying the medication. So many warnings. So many side effects. So many contraindications. They'd be better off NOT trying to promote it. Just let the doctors prescribe it like they did before they started pushing prescription drugs on the common consumer (who doesn't know shit about meds).

I wish it was here. the commercials are so annoying. It should be the doctor's call what to prescribe, not the drug companies.

Yeah, I noticed how it mentioned something about "may result in death" twice during the commercial.

Funny how the drug companies are allowed to market this deadly crap, while at the same time the feds criminalize much safer pain-relieving drugs like marijuana.

What a pile of bullsh*t.

I was prescribed celebrex for a work-related back injury last summer. It was extremely effective. I felt zero side effects.

I've tried a number of things like Celebrex for osteoarthritis, but they all end up rotting my innards in about a month of regular use. I am just plain tired of bellyaches and Pepto Bismol to make up for the damage that these drugs can do.

At present I have matters well in hand by taking two buffered aspirins every morning with breakfast, and I do not think I will use any NSAIDs ever again.

I've tried most NSAIDs, too. And I've found that two aspirin in the morning does a much better job and costs only one cent a tablet. Not only that, but I also get the circulatory system benefits from taking aspirin.

The only thing about aspirin is that if I am going to give blood I have to quit for four days beforehand...I just hit the two gallon mark last week.

I hate all medical commericals...all they do is try to make you believe you need a medication or have a condition that you don't. If you need medicine a doctor will prescribe it, you don't need TV to tell you you're sick. TV drug (yes, they're drugs) ads should be banned in the US just like most of the rest of the world...

Funny thing about those side-effect warnings: I think it's the Lunesta (sp?) ad that says one side effect is 'drowsiness'...well, duh! I would hope so! Given that the med is for those who can't SLEEP!

Ouch that is painfully long.
What happened to the modern 30 second spot?!?
Where do you see this?
I hardly ever watch TV, so I wouldn't know.

During ABC, NBC, and CBS evening newscasts. Also seen on CNN and MSNBC during prime time.

I don't know about Headline News or Fox Noose Network during prime time. I don't watch that shit.

I had a lot of injuries the last years, and I was prescribed Vioxx and Celebrex. It worked real good, no side effects or things like that.
I had a swelling at my knee, after surgery, which is quite normal. With Vioxx it was gone within 3 days.
I also tried Ibuprofen and others, but I got problems with my stomach.
Maybe it's better if you don't read what kind of side effects you could get.
