Exam Results Are In!

Tue Aug 07, 2007 7:30 pm

Hey folks, after two years of hard work at Standard Grades (GCSEs), the results are in!
We, up here in the north, grade results on a scale of 1 to 7, with Credit, General and Foundation levels;

  • Credit = 1 + 2
  • General = 3 + 4
  • Foundation = 4 + 5
  • Fail = 7

So, my results are as follows;

  • Computing Studies = 1
  • German = 1
  • Modern Studies = 1
  • English = 2
  • Geography = 2
  • Physics = 2
  • Social & Vocational Skills [common sense] = 2 < totally shocked likes, I do have common sense then,  rotfl

So, with last year's C pass at Intermediate 2 Maths, this puts me on Credit passes all round!

Anyone else get reults in this week or soon-ish??

Here's to the next step on the ladder to reaching for the skies.... BA here I come!

That shows a singular lack of ambition!! You WANT to become redundant? Big grin

Well done on your results notwithstanding. I take it A levels are next?

Hmm. BA could be said to be akin to marriage - all those on the outside want to get in, whilst all those on the inside....  Wink

Good luck then. My son is half way through. He's done his AS levels and now he is on the A level course. Hard work and stressful, but worth it in the end.

What are you planning to do after Uni then? Fly?

I want to go on a yap year after uni, see the world in my own time before I am being paid to do it  laughing ... Not really totally sure what to do. Get all the qualifications to be a Pilot and then go for it.  thumbsup

Yes, that is a congratulations, basically it means that I have obtained all the grades I need to go on and do my Highers [A Levels or whatever] and can do them without any bother  biggrin

Yes, I am at the same point as your son, a year to go.

Quoting Banco (Reply 6):

Yes, it works on a point system, you do 4 or 5 AS levels, then drop down to 3 or 4 in the second year for the full A level grade. You get points based upon grades over both examinations (2 years) "UCAS" points for the universities.

We get our GCSE results on the 24th of August so just over 2 weeks. We do ours in grades though so A,B,C is pass and anything below is well not a pass but not a fail, and then F and G are fails.

You need 5 A-C's to get into the 6th form but i have 2 B's already (an IT course) so im feeling fairly confident  silly

Rgds --James--

P.S. congrats on the good results!
You cant have your cake and eat it... What the hells the point in having it then!!!

That is so quintessentially German! We've got education as a state affair, too, we've got "reforms" every other year, too, and we've also got all sorts of grade denominations that take a bloody wizard to figure out!

It's governments everywhere. They can't resist meddling, and they never wait long enough to see whether the last bright idea actually works or not. Meanwhile the teachers keep banging their heads against the wall after the latest change.

Exactly. Having 16 state governments does make it even more interesting, I've got to admit.  Sad

it is even more "interesting" in a country where you have 26 state governments with sovereignty in education matters, and issuing their wisdom in three different languages, not least as that country has a bit fewer inhabitants than Germany !

Yeah, but those aren't the type of exams we're talking about. It's exams comparable to State Test, SAT's, ACT's etc in the US
