Why a Tribunal?

"They carried out a campaign of terror and genocide" - displaced survivor

The charges are clear against the United States government by the people of New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast region displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. On August 29th through September 2nd, 2005, the world witnessed the monumental failure of the U.S. government to protect and respect the lives of the working people, the majority of whom were African-American and poor. This failure is the direct result of the national (race), class

Uh... Tinfoil hat time?

The grand goals of the "tribunal":

Quote:

-Hold the US government accountable for its crimes against humanity;
-Demand financial restitution and justice for the Survivors of Katrina and Rita;
-Advance the Katrina-Rita reconstruction movement;
-Build a global campaign against the US government's program of ethnic cleansing;
-Demand that the US government adhere to UN guidelines on Internally Displaced Persons.

WTF: Program of ethic cleansing?

Guess who's behind this little circus of madness:

Why such a lawsuit, despite how impossible it may be:
Ask those people, mostly Black, but including whites, trying to walk out of N.O. in desperation for food, water and shelter via one of the few ways out and being confronted by armed local police officers of an adjacent town (and fearful of many more coming in and overwhelming that town) theating to shoot to kill them if they continued.
Ask those who lost loved ones, left to die in the hospitals, nursing homes, their homes, their apartments and even in the streets as they were not evacuated in time.
Ask why it took 4 days to get even the most remedial help when TV people could be in the area in a matter of hours.
Ask why we can have 130,000 troops and their equipment in Iraq and not have a few thousand before to help evacuate and after the storm to deal with what was one the greatest natural disasters to ever hit a major urban area in the USA.
Ask about the 200 years of legal and de facto racism that meant only Cat. 3 levees, blacks and the poor to live in high risk areas.
Ask about the generations of political ignorance, racism and corruption in the region and in the states (especially Louisiana) that meant they didn't have any local plan to evacuate or shelter people, except in unequipped shelters - they too should be part of the 'Defendants' in this suit too.
Ask why people didn't have the common sense to not live in the highest risk areas.
Ask why FEMA leaders were AWOL and totally incompetent in dealing with this disaster.
Ask why FEMA bought trailers that were loaded with hazardous glues that made them useless.
Ask why there isn't enough housing in safe areas near necessary stores with enough free transit to connect those houses with jobs.
Ask why anybody with employable skills, especially teachers and the like and many corporations have left for other cities and won't come back to N.O. or the hit region, with no schools, insufficient housing, public transportation and hospitals.
And you wonder why people will support such schemes to sue in an international tribunal, despite the potential foolishness in doing so.

There is no lawsuit.

Foolish?

Yes, collecting a bunch of conspiracy theory wack jobs together pretending you are a court with any sort of legal standing is pretty foolish.

Funny, the quest I'd like to ask these people is why they left their loved ones to die.

But hey, judging by the number of times you crammed racism and it's derivatives into your post, I supposed you should join the tribunal. Don't be surprised when the police bust in and arrest the lot for impersonating a court of law.
