Christmas In Shanghai?

Thu Aug 23, 2007 7:11 pm

So,

It appears that I will once again be spending Christmas day alone, getting drunk and watching crap on TV before falling asleep and waking up just in time to go to the pub and do it all over again. So I'm contemplating a trip this year, instead of the aforementioned boredom that I endured in previous years.

Since I've always had a bit of a fascination with PVG, but never gotten round to actually visiting yet, I was considering making a trip over the christmas period. Also flights are reasonably priced at that time of year for some resason. Proposed dates would be flying out on 23/12/2007 and returning on 30/12/2007

Is there much to do in Shanghai over Xmas? Or will I be just as bored as I would be at home bout now a couple of grand out of pocket?

I was considering something similar. Im off work from Christmas until about the 7th January, so rather than spend the winter freezing my ass off in scotland, I was considering buggering off to warmer climates, the carribean was high up my list.

As long as theres beaches, bakini clad women and cocktails, im happy Big grin

Indeed, I have been considering the Carribean (or south africa) as well, though travel to the Carribean appears to be Rhaaaa-ish expensive at that time of year, as one would expect.

indeed shanghai does seem surprisingly cheap, £450 return from ABZ! SXM on the other hand is coming in at £1700!

Exactly, whilst I'd love to go to SXM, by the time you add in airport parking, hotel booking and other miscallaneous expenses you're looking at £2300 before you've even get there!

Awwww, why don't you two head off to China together!! At least then you could order a crispy fried turkey and pancakes together and celebate the festive season with a few prawn crackers rather than christmas crackers!!  Wink  duck
Ladies & gentlemen this is Captain Tobias Wilcock welcoming you aboard Coconut Airways flight 372 to Bridgetown Barb

£450 return

That's what I usually pay to PVG from LHR on VS250/1.

It'll be cold, but it's a stunning city to visit. If I'm honest, and you're going to visit it once only, then visit it in the Spring.
