TBH most latest bollywood music is crap. All stolen from western and is unbearable. Any original music based on Hindustani or Carnatic is great.

I mainly listen to Indian classical, as opposed to contemporary. I enjoy Shankar, Khan, and a host of others. Nothing beats a tabla drum!

Same here.

I do appreciate Karnatak music, as that's what my family listens to, generally. I don't like it, but I do appreciate the talent and the instruments.

Absolutely cannot stand Bollywood music.

My favorite Indian music video.  Smile

Could anyone please say what language this is and what the hell they're singing about? This video had me in stitches for a couple of weeks last year. I still play it occasionally in the morning for laughs.  Smile

I've never seen a Bollywood film (I presume this is from a film...) Is this a parody? Those chipmunk female voices kill me every time I hear them  rotfl

Nope, sorry  Smile

My understanding of Tamil has decreased exponentially since I was a kid (I could never actually speak it).

Not to mention, I can't watch more than about 10 seconds of that before I just can't stand it anymore.

Any of familiar with a band called "Frequency"?
I am not too familiar with Indian music but what little I do know, it's good music, traditional and contemporary. HAWK21M, the music in your thread starter is good dance music. I have similar music from the Middle-East and Africa that sounds like this. It's much better than the garbage that Western pop music has degraded to over the last 15 years.

The reason why I asked about the band Frequency is they had popped up in a Google search when I was looking up some information about Gino Vannelli. He is one of my favorite artist of all times.
The drummer of Frequency; Noel Malekar noted Gino Vannelli and Rush as is big influences. Well I am a diehard Rush fan and Gino Vannelli fan, yet there style of music is not even in the same genre.

I have many favorite bollywood songs but very different from MEL's taste (I would rather hear an English song(I love wetern music) than a broken attempted bollywood 'fusion' , ARR is an exception).
A few from my long list of my favorite Hindi movie songs. MEL' your comments on the songs below:

Shakti

Bazaar
