CNN: "Chemical Ali" To Be Executed

Tue Sep 04, 2007 7:41 pm

No story yet as of 0640 Eastern, but CNN reporting that "Chemical Ali" and other top brass for Saddam are to be executed within 30 days?

I wonder if they'll ever get to Tarik Aziz? Hope they keep Baghdad Bob around for laughs.

I don't know about Aziz, but Baghdad Bob was released almost immediately, and now lives in UAE. He was never a policy-maker, just a bafoon.

i remember seeing him on tv a few weeks after the "no troops here" incident. his hair was grey, almost white.
i find it rather odd but comical how a large number of middle eastern leaders/politicians dye their hair pitchblack.
the extend of this practice was not something i was conscious about until i saw it with mr. iraqi information minister.

p.s. yes i am aware most western politicians also cover their grey hair and often even go to the solarium for that tv tan, but it is just not as drastic as going from pitchblack to white in a month  Wink

AFAIK he has still not been tried for his major crimes. It seems a bit odd. Same pattern with Saddam, try him for one minor episode and to most intents and purposes the remainder of the long litany in effect get swept under the carpet.

I suppose the inverse is that if they were to be tried for every event, the trials would go on for ever. But they seemed to manage that sort of problem at Nuremberg, so why do it this way now?

Both were deleted from the "list" and apparently are free and outside Iraq now.

he sued someone who wrote that he dyes his hair. he also won the case, apparently because it is only this soft coloration, so there is a semantical victory, splitting hairs!

Interesting, last I heard he was diddling about in Jordan.

They will find a way of minimizing Aziz's punishment.
