Creating Funny Airliners.net Shirts

Sat Sep 08, 2007 10:31 am

Okay, so I have an small addiction to funny t-shirts so....

I would like to start a collection of funny airliners.net tees. Not just a little funny, I'm talking about pure hilarity  crackup .

Please think of some funny ideas for t-shirts and include what you are thinking for animations as well.

Below are a couple funny t-shirt websites that have good ideas...now we just need to think of Airliners.net themes.

snorgtees.com or bustedtees.com

My first example but I must admit that it's not very good is  Wink:

If it don't fly...don't shoot it. (taken from the phrase...if it ain't broke...don't fix it)

Animation could be a guy taking a picture of a plane (plane animated with a smiley face) and then a car to the right (with a depressed look). Punch line in case you didn't get it...car is depressed it can't fly  Wink

Trying to get our ideas for some A.net things to sell for the company??

Here's some slogans

Life, a poor substitute for A.net
I love airplanes with all my body. (including my pee-pee).
The midwest, not so boring as long as you keep flying over it.
I don't have A.D.D. It's just...hey look! an airplane.
Freedom: just cross the hold short and gun the throttle
There are two kinds of aircraft. Fighters and targets.

That's all I got right now.

Just kidding - get used to it around here.  biggrin

It should have a picture on it - maybe the cargo door, but, then, CaptOveur would probably want some fees for it.

I only fly when I'm surfing on airliners.net.

This is the Airliners.net cargo bay for those who care.

When I am not flying, I am a arm chair CEO on Airliners.net

Contrary to popular belief, Airliners.net is for everyone.

Airliners.net is my second family my spouse does not know about.

What do airplanes and airlines have in common? Airliners.net

I think some of the slogans that come up on the main a.net page would make for good shirts...

"Airliners.net: We serve both HVN and HEL"

Hmmm:

The Unanswered questions of A.net
"When will Northwest retire those DC-9's?"
"When will Air France wash their planes?"
"757's across the Atlantic?"
"Will UA and CO merge?"
"What about those AA A300s?"
"When will __ launch service to ___?"
"When will __ get PTV's in Y?"
"What is the longest route flown by _____?"

"This is the Cargo Bay of Those Who Care" would be a great t-shirt.

"If it doesn't have wings, it's worthless"

Maybe some A vs B stuff?
"If it ain't Boeing, I'm not going. If it's made in France, why take the chance?"
"Flying an A340 is like driving a Ford Pinto"
"Boeing: The sound a plane makes when it hits the ground"
"What's the difference between a lumberjack and an A320? About 10,000 trees a minute"

Quoting Futurecaptain (Reply 7):
F**k you, I'm a pilot!

Gives me an idea with that one joke:
Front: What do you call a black pilot?
Back: A pilot you racist a$$hole.

Quoting Futurecaptain (Reply 7):
There are two kinds of aircraft. Fighters and targets.

Not necessarily a.net, but:
"The aerospace engineer builds modern, state of the art weapons systems and the means to deliver those weapons. Civil Engineers build the targets."

Quoting GQfluffy (Reply 10):

I like Futurecaptain's ideas. A lot. Let's make some of these happen!

We could always go with a Priceless shirt, something like this (just an idea, don't make fun of me!  Smile )

Spending time with the spouse: $10,000 (cost of the wedding)
Buying a new car: $30,000
Wasting countless hours on Airliners.net, getting kicked out of the house, and establishing an online reputation that nobody wants to compete with: Priceless.

Some good ideas in this thread - I would love to see some of these come to life.

On the front, has a photo of a 767 and the words,

"Ride a widebody without being teased"

I like the witty shirts.

The problem with a lot of these suggestions is that random people on the street won't get it. Especially ones that are derived from specific events, people or recurring themes on the boards.

Y'know, I just showed my aviation non-enthusiast brother some of these and the widebody and A.D.D. one were the only two he "got" and laughed at. Okay, sure, he's not the target demo, but still, it's always nice to know what the unenlightened portion of humanity thinks.

I just hope these shirts--if and when they materialize--don't look like absolute sh*t; thrown together last minute with some crazy "fun" font and a really bad piece of clip art. That's my fear. Hopefully that doesn't happen here.  crossfingers

Let's make these look professional, yet funny.

I don't have A.D.D. It's just...hey look! an airplane.

In all seriousness, when could we start getting this one made and sold? I'd be willing to pay up to $25 for one that looks decent.

Front: What do you call a Flightdeck with an all female crew?
Back: A Flightdeck, you sexist a$$hole.

Let me fix that one for you:
Front: What do you call a Flightdeck with an all female crew?
Back: You should probably call a pilot, and then find out why the Flight Attendants are out of the galley.

Okay, two more shirt ideas:

"Airlines.net- Where a B is better than an A"

"One mile of highway takes you a mile. One mile of runway can give you the world."

Quoting Mirrodie (Reply 34):
Which is exactly why I really liked my friend's "Ride a widebody without being teased" shirt. It was one of those that was so wrong on so many levels but yet identifiable

I would pay for that one, as long as it had a 767 or 777 or something on it.  Smile

Insider joke for a shirt:

Airliners.net/bans/record/TedTace

Some other thoughts:

Airliners.net writers:
Where we get are P's and Q's straight.
Dotting our I's and crossing our T's is another matter!

Airliners.net really extends out my hard drive
And my computer isn't even on yet!

Airliners.net gives good head wind.
That's why our on-time record sucks!

Hey Debbie Downer, they are going to look awesome, not crappy. Kidding, valid concern but I promise they'll look good, otherwise it's not worth making them.  Wink  pessimist

You better duck after that comment...I have reason to call you a jerk and hilarious at the same time  Wink

Dirty but funny.

My two favorite so far are the wide body one and the ADD one...the ADD one being my favorite. ROTFL  idea

I'm so happy everyone is as into this as me...I love funny shirts. I think we can make the shirts funny to the general public and not just for us...that won't be too hard to do if we choose correctly.

I'd like to have these before Christmas and I don't foresee any problems with that.

Don't get the snow globe thing...think it was before my time??????

Yes, it was, and the thread it refers to is regarded as one of the classic threads to ever come out of the Non-Av Forum.

Does anybody have the link to that thread so Monique can get this inside joke?

Along similar lines, how about: "Airliners.net: I'm here for the B & A?" Cos lord knows most members *aren't* here for the T and A.  biggrin  (Not that there's much to go around to begin with...)  grumpy

Haha, fair enough. Just doing my part to ensure that the high standards of A.net are upheld.  wink

...Oh, who the hell am I kidding? "High standards"?! This place??  rotfl

But seriously, does anyone else think it's time we start culling the herd, as it were, and collate the really good ones?
