Our school spirit rock is painted with the POW/MIA Symbol on it and we also have one of the tables in our main cafeteria designated as the POW/MIA table with the proper set up at that you see at formal military dinners and dining halls.

I would hope there would be more of a recognition in a thread like this, although, I'm sure plenty of Americans aren't forgetful of our POW's and MIA's.

Had a ceremony yesterday at the Carl Hayden VA Medical Center in Phoenix. One of my former professors (masters program) and my former state senator Larry Chesley spoke about his experience as a POW for eight years in Vietnam, shot down April 1966. While in school had a few interesting discussions with him (as there were only two of us in class that was in the military at that time) regarding his experiences and how it effected his outlook on life and how his faith came him going.

Does that also include the POW's held at Gitmo? Or is there hope the world will forget about them?

Keep The Faith.

One of the biggest lessons you learn in SERE school. It's amazing what the human can endure when he has faith in himself, his comrades in arms and the code of conduct. Look at those who survived in North Vietnam, some over 7 years! They are the true heroes, who have incredible courage and conviction.

I saw a very interesting piece on the national geographic channel about Lt Cmdr Michael Speicher. I was well read regarding Viet Nam stories... but I knew very little of his story. It's likely the man ejected and survived. What happened to him? What was his fate? What is the fate of those missing in Viet Nam... some of whom were seen successfully ejecting.

True heroes and people of honor. It is truly an honor to serve in the same armed forces that they proudly represented.
