Castro Continues To Recuperate

Sat Sep 22, 2007 3:25 pm

Apparently "weed never die". And the Cuban/Venezuelan Governments affair continues...

Cuba's Castro looks healthy in new video : http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070922/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/cuba_castro

"Fidel continues to recuperate. It's a productive recuperation as we can see in the press," said Lage, apparently referring to the publication in state newspapers of Castro's "Reflections of the Commander in Chief."

Also Friday, Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque said that "Fidel is recovering with discipline and I think that he's having a productive work period --- reading, studying, writing and keeping up with and participating in the country's principal decisions."

In Venezuela, ally President Hugo Chavez started a speech with an announcement that Castro was speaking on Cuban state television. "A long life to Fidel and the Cuban revolution," he shouted.

Earlier while traveling in Brazil, Chavez said Castro was "close to death" but underwent several operations and has regained weight.

Castro had "three operations, and he's 81, imagine that. They changed almost all the blood with transfusions. Fidel is alive because he is Fidel," Chavez said. "

Still, it won't be long until Fidel finally rots six feet under, where he belongs, and maybe with luck, Raúl gets booted out as well. Over 50 years of communist tyranny in Cuba must end now!

Que viva la Cuba libre, sin Fidel y sin tiranía!

This isn't good news for the Cuban people as they continue to live in fear of imprisonment for any anti-Castro acts and in sharply declining poverty. The sooner he and his brother are dead and buried, the sooner Cuba Libre.
Of course even if Castro and his brother dies, it won't really be better for many Cubans. The USA wants a leader like the old days that will be totally subservient to us. One of the first demands is to turn over all property stolen by the Castro government given back to it's rightful owners, especially USA corporations, that they won't sell sugar to the USA, allow only USA to invest there - especially for oil - and go back to a time when we owned Cuba and controlled it's economy and government.

Good post. It's hard to say which is worse for Cuba... now, or the future.

That's the cool thing about a capitalist market. Businesses open up because they see demand for their product and an opportunity to make a profit. If Cubans didn't want McDonalds in their country they would vote with their pocketbooks.

I have been blessed with the means and ability to travel to a number of places in my life. Many of which featured some of the brands you describe as "raping" culture. And none seemed too disturbed by the presense of a McDonalds or a Starbucks on the corner.

Castro didn't look healthy in his video of last friday. In June he had a longer interview and he really seemed fit and he talked more clear and articulate, so apparently he had a new health crisis since, also preventing him from appearing in public on his 81th birthday. I think his days will be over soon.
Let's hope for a decent democratic turnover in the next few years, keeping the best of Cuba combined with democracy and more personal freedom and not having the Miami Cuban loudmouths looting the country and putting a new Batista there.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?
