Find Your Presidential Candidate

Sat Sep 22, 2007 10:33 pm

I did a search and this didn't come up as a redundant topic, so apologies if it is.

The following is an interactive tool to find the candidate closest to your position.

Mine was a dead tie: Edwards and Guiliani. Yep, I guess I really AM a moderate!  Smile

Interesting tool. This tells me I am a Mitt Romeny kinda guy which I would have never guessed in a million years. I always considered myself a Guiliani kinda guy.

My top 5, according to the quiz:
Kucinich 49
Gravel 42
Richardson 40
Dodd 39
Edwards 36

The odd thing is that both Clinton and Obama scored exactly the same (34), and in the list of which positions I agree with them on vs. disagree, the lists are exactly the same for the two candidates. Isn't it nice how much of a meaningful choice we get to make when we vote?

I pretended I was a US citizen for a moment and gave it a try. It appears my candidates are Dodd (41), Obama and Clinton (both 38) or Kucinich (36), with Giuliani, Biden and Edwards running behind. The least my style candidate would be a guy named Tom Tancredo, with whom we'd only share an opinion about taxes, and I wasn't even sure about the taxes. Funny thing is, on the most important issue for me as a "foreigner", Iraq, only Giuliani would agree with me in the top six.

Edwards: 30
Dodd: 25

The highest rated G.O.P. candidate was Guiliani, who came in 7th place with a score of 22. Ron Paul scored a stunning score of 1.

You gave me the idea to try to repeat the test with a different zip code.

I first used 90210 because it's the first that came to mind. I got Gravel and Kucinich @ 36 p. each.

Now I introduced my old New York zip, 11373, and with all other answers identical, I obtained Dodd 46p, followed by Gravel, Clinton and Obama @ 35 p. each.

It would seem that in this test, your political preferences are highly influenced by where you say you live. So I automatically hold Clinton in higher esteem just because she's a New York Senator?

This smells fishy... Has anyone else tried the test with different personal data?

Edit: Am I the only one to whom Gilmore, Brownback and Hunter don't ring a bell? These three have somehow managed to escape my attention until now although I read quite a lot on the subject...

edit: grammar

My idea is that Hillary will make the nomination for the Democrats and will choose Obama for VP.
I have no idea who will be chosen on the Republicans' side.

A couple more Democrats, then my first Republican was Giuliani with 33.

But apparently I agree with their hatred of him.......He was tail end charlie when I took the test...scored a whole 1!
