Do you guys actually like the shape of the Nano Video?

I find it to be ugly

I have a N73ME, or my PDA for music.
Not a music player

Ipod 3rd Gen Nano: 1

How are you finding it? I was thinking of getting one for my car as I'm commuting to WLG a lot these days for work, and need some tunes to drive to. Any problems your finding? I have a 1st gen nano, but its just not cool anymore.

Thanks

Why do some people have so many MP3 players? How do you decide which to use? I was thinking of getting a new one, but i asked myself, what is the point? I just use it to listen to music in the gym (sometimes) or when using public transportation (sometimes).

In some cases it certainly is the lust for new toys.  Wink Myself however, I'd try to get rid of (=sell) the old ones, but this certainly isn't the same with everyone.

Quoting Captaink (Reply 19):

I only have two, but will answer anyway: when I'm just out for a moment and want some music, I'll take the earphones for the phone and listen to MP3s or the radio. When I'm going to spend considerable time anywhere, such as a train, where I want more than 1GB of music to choose from, I'll take the iPod.

Quoting Captaink (Reply 19):

If you don't have a reason to take all or considerable parts of your record collection with you every now and then, you really don't need a large-capacity player. They do come in handy as well when or if you have a need for a mobile hard drive.

Conclusion: it's always the sum of functions and possibilities. I like the MP3 camera phone because, well, it lets me stay in touch, entertains me, wakes me up in the morning, takes acceptable photos of where I'm going and has an organiser holding the addresses I need and reminding me of what I'd forget otherwise.
The iPod is smoother to use, holds 20 times as many songs, is a mobile hard drive, has better sound quality and can replace my power-hungry PC as a sitting room MP3 player.

Creative Zen Micro for the win! I have had it for over 2 years now and its still going strong, although the battery is starting to die on me, its battery life is consistently decreasing to around 4 to 5 hours of music playback.

Anything else; luck of the drawer, I guess!!! Flights - always the 5th Gen iPod.

Depending on usage that sounds plausible for current battery technology. They wear out after a certain number of cycles. It's got little to do with the player manufacturer, it's simply the current state of battery technology.

Creative Muvo TX, 256 MB:

http://images.tw.creative.com/images/corporate/artwork/art_muvo_tx_fm_pdt.jpg

Cheap, sturdy, 100% reliable, runs on AAA batteries. Low on memory but more more than sufficient for its only use: keeping me alive in public transport.

Oddly enough, I can't think of a single acquaintance who has an iPod. I've no idea what its market share in Belgium is, but it seems quite rare around here.

Don't like the Generation 3 Nano. iTouch looks impressive if it weren't for the dire space for songs.

1st Gen iPod nano - use about 4 hours every day and not gunna replace it til it runs down - or runs out of space.

I am slightly tempted by the Video Nano but I'm happy with what I got.

Go for the 160GB, its not like you'll ever use that much space but hey, no one else will have an iPod the same capacity as most peoples computers.

On that note, how much of their capacity has everyone used? I've used about 12GB.

Well I had an OBF for the first one (Out of Box Failure) the damn thing wouldn't sync properly with my pc!
Took it back to the Apple shop... they tried several software resets then finally got it to work and now it runs fine!
The bigger screen is nice... I use mine in my car also... Have a Pioneer headeck with Ipod compatability... has an ipod docking cable running out the back and into the dashpocket and can control the Ipod from the headeck... very handy and looks better than having cables running out the front or Ipod tuner.  Smile

Its much better than Ipod, however marketing is rather weak for these guys. It works well, has an FM radio, easy user interface, videos and pictures without having to pay for extra Ipod accessories or buying overpriced Ipod's.

Awesome. At the moment I've been borrowing my mates iriver mp3 player for my trips to welly but it would be nice to have my own with my own songs. I think the new gen nano looks wicked and don't see how they can improve on it too much in the future size-wise (maybe make it thinner?) Prob buy one soon

No I bought mine in California when they first came out so took it to the Apple Shop there.....New Zealand doesn't have an Apple Store yet (pretty pathetic by Apple really considering per capita New Zealand is one of the most successful markets for Apple). The 3rd gen Nano is not even officially out in New Zealand yet I don't think...just the advertising and parallel imports.

I've got my cellphone. Currently a Nokia 6120 Classic with a 2 GB memorycard. Before that I used an Qtek 8010. Don't really get why people don't use this option more as it is a lot cheaper and more convenient unless you need 8+ GB.

Should I get a dedicated MP3 player, no question that I would go the Apple way, the new nano's look great. But I somehow like the idea of carrying only one device. There you got it right with the iPhone Apple, though I find it a little too big..

I had an ipod nano 1st gen which died within 5 months of me getting it for no real reason. Now I have a 30 gig Creative Zen Vision M, which is great and seems very tough. I mostly leave it in my car but I also bring it on flights for music/movies. When I go to the gym or run I use my cell phone for music, a samsung sync with a 1 gig micro sd card.
