Portable In Car Navigation...which One?

Sat Oct 06, 2007 10:16 pm

So I really thought i would never want one of these, but I was out with a friend who had one and I was very surprised at what it was capable of. So I am looking into buying one and was looking for input. Of the research i have done I have narrowed down my choice to the Magellan Maestro 4040 because of its features and price. Does anyone have this one or have any recommendations as to what to look for and what to avoid. The 4040 has text to voice which seems to be the thing most people are looking for. It also has blue tooth and a bunch of other features.

I never fancied about those features.
When I bought my TomTom 910 all that mattered was to have all of Europe and North America covered by a single device. It's 20 GB harddisk is pretty capeable (and can play also music).

The looks how a direction is displayed usually is customizable; I found that the 3-dimensional view you have in the original post does not suit me and I changed to a 2-dimensional display with customized colors.
