Offensive Halloween Costumes (Post Pics)

Fri Oct 12, 2007 9:02 pm

Hey all,

So... with Halloween coming up, I got invited to a Costume Party in Boston... and I'm going. Question is what should I dress up as? I'm not a hot girl with big boobs, so the lengerie and bunny ears are out of the question, so I'm thinking of wearing what most guys try to wear. Something funny!

Give me some ideas.. (but I wouldn't want to insult anyone, so the pics below are out of the question)

I also searched halloween costumes on the net and came across a website with offensive costumes... TERRIBLE!!!

Terrible, but funny...

JUST WRONG !!! LOL ... Def. NOT going to wear that

Don't wear this at certain parties!

I have a OBGYN one. It worked very well for me. At non work parties. Last Halloween for work related I was in Charlotte for comapny policy training and systems at the time. I did not bring a costume and others did so what I did was go back to my room I stripped the bed sheet off the bed stripped, made a toga and wore nothing but that and sneakers. Well the humor of it comes from the fact that the toga fell apart in the hall on the way and I had to hit the emergency stop on the elevator to give me time to fix it. Pretty good time. This year I am thinking of somthing creative still to do as I am starting a trip that day.

Halloween is becoming more of an adult event than one for kids. I don't partake of parties or costuming anymore as I just don't like how the day has been commercially perverted. Far too often we see offensive costumes like those above, too much of a connection to alcohol consumption along with ads for brand of drink to choose, too may near pornographic, sexist, horror-slasher film or no real imagination and too much candy.

You highlighted all the things I love about Halloween. Sexy costumes and lots of alcohol.  Cool
I enjoy Halloween much more now as an adult than I ever did as a kid.

Me and a friend of mine were drink Muslims one year.

I've ran in to some airline stewardess from the past.

One of the highlights of Halloween in San Francisco is riding the Subway and the trains being full of people in costumes going off to random Halloween parties around the city.

So making jokes about priests who most likely traumatise these kids for life is ok? And drunk arabs are a stereotype?

How many priests actually do that? The repressed sexuality of priests is a stereotype; it's fair game for me. The priest and kid depicted above are OTT, but then again there's no accounting for bad taste.

Quoting ArmitageShanks (Reply 16):

Uptight, teetotal Arabs are. I thought you'd get the irony?

On the other hand, two kids dressed as the WTC under attack with "Bush knew" on them make me sick, because I had a personal connection to the attacks of 9/11. It may not concern you personally, and I'm not suggesting you should be offended.

IMHO there is a difference between the stereotype/ironic costume and a specific event that caused a lot of death and suffering of innocent civilians. Foe example, it would be the difference between dressing up as a Jewish man with a big nose and money bulging out of every pocket vs. dressing up as a Jewish person in a Auschwitz prison outfit.

Oh give me a break people. Halloween costumes have been completely gruesome for years...zombies (possessed rotting corpses), people with horrendous fake injuries, devils, witches, etc... so why is something symbolic or equally gruesome all of a sudden wrong? It's amazing how people pick and choose their battles.

Disagreeing with something that hits a little close to home makes you sound like a hypocrite.

Quoting Toast (Reply 17):

How many Americans are killed by terrorists every year? A hell of a lot less than the kids that are molested by adults, that's for sure. I had no direct connection to the WTC disaster and I think those are great "shock value" costumes.

Disagreeing with whatever the hell I want is my privilege, and I won't have anyone telling me to laugh at genocide.

A word of advice: take a trip to Auschwitz. Then come back and tell me how much fun that was.

I hate bringing out the age card, but IMO only your age can explain your apparent inability to see the difference between the emotional impact of fictional characters and that of mass murder of real people.

So what you are saying in your infinite wisdom that if you make fun of something at all it gives you free reign to make fun of anyone any subject with no mercy? You are an all or nothing type of guy, aren't you? You are the type of person who doesn't see a difference in a silly stereotype vs Aushwitz jokes where millions of them were slaughtered. Nope. No difference at all is there?

This thread just goes to prove that whomever introduced the term "Politically Correct" to the world destroyed a good chunk of our culture. I think all of you just need to shut up. The title of this thread does say "Offensive Halloween Costumes". So, one could safely assume you may get offended by anything posted in here. If you can't read, it's not anyone else's problem. Either don't come in the thread if you could get offended by anything posted, or keep your trap shut if you see something you don't like. Some of you people are pathetic.  Yeah sure

My costume last year was shockingly bad, didn't put any effort in at all, as I only decided to go with my mates a few minutes before they left! This year I'm, planning to go as some sort of medieval mad axe warrior. I've already bought a suit of chainmail to wear, will be making other body armour myself out of cardboard... the chainmail on it's own weighs 22lbs, so I don't want to be bogged down too much all night!
