Official NFL Thread: Week 6!

Sun Oct 14, 2007 12:54 am

I'd love to see the Cowboys win tomorrow against the Patriots, but I just don't see them doing it.

Kellen Winslow needs to lay the smack down on Jerry Porter tomorrow.  box

Who do you like?

My picks:

MIN-CHI: Chicago 21-16 (here's hoping Chicago can make something out of last week's victory)

PHI-NYJ: Philadelphia 28-13 (No contest, the Jets simply have a major uphill battle in almost any game this season)

TEN-TB: Tennessee 14-10 (Well maybe Vince Young will give a better week than last, but who knows with him)

HOU-JAX: Jacksonville 17-16 (JAX has a decent defense, and is gonna force a lot of HOU kicks... but Kris Brown is a fantastic kicker. Thankfully I have him on my fantasy team!  Wink )

STL-BAL: Baltimore 24-21 (Two blah teams, playing two blah games)

MIA-CLE: Cleveland 21-17 (Cleo Lemon? Who? He might be a surprise, but it's a guessing game)

WAS-GNB: Green Bay 28-21 (They might have lost last week, and the Skins might look like a better team than first expected. But Farve is still Farve. Who know's what we'll get out of him)

CIN-KC: Cincinnati 21-20 (I bet this one is close. CIN really hasn't impressed me this year)

CAR-ARI: Arizona 20-14 (I don't know... Warner might be good for a backup, but he's old and probably rusty. Can he handle CAR for 4 quarters?? He's lucky it's CAR and not someone better. I bet it's a high kicking game)

OAK-SD: San Diego 31-17 (I think SD seems like a no-brainer. They really came roaring back last week in Denver. Homefield advantage, a strong win last week, and LT and Rivers... they have this made.)

NO-SEA: They both suck. SEA is 3-2... but I think last week really showed us what kind of team they are. I'll say they win it, but it's really a toss up.

NYG-ATL: New York Giants 28-21 (Giants did well last week, and Atlanta still has issues. If Eli keeps his wits about him, he could do some damage)

NWE-DAL: New England 38-28. (The Pats have consistently been scoring into the 30s every week. They are an amazing team. Last week Randy Moss ran for only 46yrds! What's amazing about that, is it shows the depth of the Patriot's offense. Brady doesn't have to just look for Moss... he has a number of weapons at his disposal, and he uses them with lethal force. Everyone is talking about how this is a big game... and the Patriots have consistently proven themselves capable the high pressure. And I just don't know about Tony Romo. He had 6 turnovers last weeks... and he's lucky, because it should have been 7! It might have been a really bad night... but for a game that suppose to scare the Pats and give Dallas a good boost, it didn't play out that way. Definitely a confidence destroyer!)

I like this prediction!  bigthumbsup

But if the Giants defence plays like they did against the Eagles and the Jets I think it will be 31-10 Giants.

Damn, you were not far off in your prediction here (that was also the longest parenthetical I have EVER seen  Wink). New England looks downright unbeatable right now.

Well I was at the game today in Green Bay, and it was good to finally see the Packers win for once. Before today they were 1-3 when I've been at the game. It wasn't too pretty on the offensive side of the ball, but the defense stepped up and got the job done. Here's some pics from today:

Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

My predictions against the actual results:

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 1):
MIN-CHI: Chicago 21-16

MIN: 34, CHI: 31

I suck.

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 1):
PHI-NYJ: Philadelphia 28-13

PHI: 16, NYJ: 9

I got the team right, but who would have guessed such a low scoring game!?

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 1):
TEN-TB: Tennessee 14-10

TEN: 10, TB: 13

I suck again. But maybe this can be explained away by the loss of Young.

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 1):
HOU-JAX: Jacksonville 17-16

HOU: 17, JAX: 37

I got the team right, but JAX really came to life this weak. Does Indie have a good match up next week against them?

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 1):
STL-BAL: Baltimore 24-21

STL: 3, BAL: 22

I got the team right, but ouch, St Louis got their asses handed to them.

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 1):
MIA-CLE: Cleveland 21-17

MIA: 31, CLE: 41

I got the team right, but it was virtually 2x the score I predicted!

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 1):
WAS-GNB: Green Bay 28-21

WAS: 14, GNB: 17

I got the team right, but GNB didn't do as well as I hoped. Still a good win after last week's loss.

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 1):
CIN-KC: Cincinnati 21-20

CIN: 20, KC: 27

I suck.

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 1):
CAR-ARI: Arizona 20-14

CAR: 25, ARI: 10

I suck. So does Warner.

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 1):
OAK-SD: San Diego 31-17

OAK: 14, SD: 28

I got this one fairly right.

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 1):
NO-SEA: They both suck.

(currently in the late 2nd qtr) NO: 21, SEA: 6

Wow, does NO have life in them, yet? Perhaps.

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 1):
NYG-ATL: New York Giants 28-21

We'll know tomorrow night.

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 1):
NWE-DAL: New England 38-28.

NWE: 48, DAL: 27

I did pretty well on this one. The Pats look really awesome so far. The schedule has them in MIA next week, and then back in Foxboro to host WAS... and then it's off to Indie for another possible game of the unbeatens!

I am 7-4 with two scores outstanding.

A lame call by Wade, but it definitely did not cost them the game. The game had already been "costed" by then haha. Big grin It was a strange decision, because Wade had to know that NE would almost certainly score again, the way they moved the ball virtually the entire game.

I was fretting with exactly how to say what I wanted to say. In reality, it did not cost them the game, but it cost them any shot at a comeback.

Bonehead move.
