A Question For The English....

Sun Oct 14, 2007 9:30 pm

Why do a large majority of English football fans boo Frank Lampard?

And another question:
Do you think the plastic pitch will affect yer performance in Russia on wednesday, and will it hamper Michael Owens recovery from injury?

You mean the British, in which case, you can answer that one yourself.

Maybe the English know that Steven Gerrard is much better than Chelski Lampard?  Wink

Going by pics from yesterdays game, it did appear to be a large majority. And it's been heard in previous games as well.
What has he done wrong?

I'm really hoping that Micky Owen comes through the game unscathed. We Geordies have been far too patient for him too play for England and end up spending another season in OUR physio room!

Frankie boy gets booed mostly because his lack of a strong all round game is exposed when he plays for England. In layman's terms, he's shit. Well, maybe not shit, but he's not the best the country has to offer. Gerrard is much better. Barry is much better. I'd even take Joey Barton or Kevin Nolan over Frank Lampard. Or even Paul Scholes.

Chelsea's style has allowed Lampard to become prominent because he gets 10 or more shots per game with them, with perhaps 1 of them getting in. But when you looks at how he is played, he's a receiver, not a playmaker. His passing lacks accuracy. His positioning lacks thoughts. Perhaps most importantly, his game lacks consistency.

Booing him isn't really the right thing to do, but I can understand it. Really though, the boos should be directed at Steve McClown for playing him. Even yesterday when he came on as a sub, he didn't impact the game one bit, except give away a few passes and looks knackered after going barely more than a warm up. McClown only has a handful of ideas, and while they might work when playing the likes of Russia and Estonia, they will come undone spectacularly next summer at the hands of...well pretty much anyone else in the tournament. I would love to see England pitted against Scotland, because Scotland have looked just magnificent in recent games, and I think would beat England comfortably and spell the end of McClown's reign. He's not the right kind of manager that England need for success. Never has been, never will be.
