Wed Oct 24, 2007 5:39 pm

Hello, A.netters.

It is only 2months to go for Christmas. Not so much remaining.

I wonder if anyone has already bought all the Christmas present???

Are anyone finished with all the preparations???

Myself and our family has not even started to think about the Christmas, think it is to early.

The difference between you and me is that I actually love kids, but only those old enough to have developed a sense of humor (above, say, the age of 7-8). As for the diaper-filling, screaming, Stuey Griffin-like obnoxious worms, Santa can put them all in his bag and take them to the North Pole as far as I'm concerned.

ok, i dont hate all children, because BHMBAGLOCK's kids are darling and were very well mannered ... but let's just say last night ... me ... in the theater ... second act started ... 12 year old sitting behind me with a *bag* of chips ... about the third song ... i snapped around and had something to quip about it ... won't go into further details because i can hear all the naysayers coming out now saying what a heartless bastard i am ... *but* those around me thanked me for getting her to stop making all the noise.

Isn't Christmas cancelled this year?

I thought that due to a fear of offending other religions and to therefore be politically correct, we will only be celebrating every other religion during the year. No Christmas trees will be erected and if anyone should happen to nibble on that chocolate Jesus, the blasphemors will be crucified....oh wait, we can't use that word either.

Incidentally, those who do not celebrate Christmas, should be the only ones working over the celebratory holidays!

I'm waiting for the 50 hysterical 'War on Christmas' posts, the likes of which 808TWA has foreshadowed above, as people who desperately, deeply want a ton of 'political correctness' to be indignant at gleefully dig in.

Oh, I should have clarified......I love Christmas especially time spent with family and friends. (previous post was tongue in cheek).

On the downside I have to say that the true meaning of the celebration is overshadowed by the commercial side of things. We should go back to the basics of enjoying the time with those we love and being grateful for what we have.

Cheers

I might end up working if the snow if falling, and Christmas won't enter my mind until about the 23rd of December, which is my traditional shopping day.

Hopefully my neighbours kid is around to wrap the presents I buy for people again this year, although he's becoming quite the capitalist, he charges me more and more every year.

I just went shopping at the mall and IKEA tonight. Thankfully, there are no decorations up here yet, except in the Christmas decorations dept.

I may actually do a Christmas tree this year, since IKEA has plastic ornaments. If my cat pulls the tree down, at least everything on it won't shatter.

Wow, really?

Neiman Marcus starts setting up Christmas displays July 5th, with the whole christmas/holiday department up and running by Labor Day.

When I was in Chicago last week, it was Christmas trees next to pumpkins. Such rubbish.

I for one love Christmas. It is my favorite of all holidays. It's just such a "happy" time for me. However, I can't stand when Christmas stuff starts going up before it's even Halloween, let alone Thanksgiving.

Well I for one am very much looking forward to Christmas for the following reasons:

1. It means I am getting out of the Gulf (Saudi/UAE) and going home!! And on BA in J for free to boot.
2. Spending time with parents and family and my Beagle all of whom I haven't seen in a long time
3. I like the holiday atmosphere and the feeling in the air

That said, I acknowledge that Christmas is probably one of the most boring days of the year, save for New Year's day...but at least then you wake up with a hangover. Also agree that it is highly commercialized, especially in the United States, but for me that doesn't detract too much from it.

In fact we also celebrate Christmas in January since my mother's side of the family is Orthodox, but the big deal is the 25th. We only go to church and have dinner with family on the 6th.

It is still too early to be thinking about Christmas, Halloween hasn't even happened yet. But yes I am looking forward to being off from school and work and spending some much needed quality time with my girlfriend.

Simply calling you a grouch isn't exactly picking on you when you put your opinion out there in the wide open. Especially when you mention in the same post that you know you will be called on it.

Quoting STLGph (Reply 29):

I don't think this needs to be turned into a pissing match, but two things. 1) I don't "flip burgers" for In-N-Out and 2) It's well known both here on A.net, and elsewhere that In-N-Out is in a league of its own when compared to other fast food joints. So even those "burger flippers" are something to respect.

None of this needs to be taken with more than a grain of salt. It's A.net.

PS: If you feel the need to rip on me though, believe me, I have heard it all. Stupid, irate customers. If only that thread over in Civ-Av about stupid passengers included stupid customers at other places. Big grin

I always get my family presents, but this year I still don't have enough money for all of my family members so I might have to only give a present to my mom and dad. I will also buy something for myself.
