Learning The Concertina

Thu Oct 25, 2007 4:23 pm

Since I sing in an Irish band, and my two guitarists are way better than me, I have picked up and am teaching myself the concertina.

I'm learning by painstaking sight reading (not my best skill) and going to a local instructional Irish trad session. It's freakin' hard, and it's gonna be a while before it no longer sounds like I'm torturing Schroedinger's cat.

Does anyone else here play this instrument, or Irish trad in general?

LHMark's got a squeezebox he wears on his chest
And when KROC gets home he never gets no rest....

You can work out the remainder of the song.
