Babel- The Movie

Mon Nov 05, 2007 5:02 am

Hey all,

I have watched Babel for the first time and I really liked the movie.......however

There were so many unanswered questions and my main question is this.

Does anyone know why we never find out what happened to the guy who broke the border gates etc

Is there a sequel?

What did you guys like about the movie?

I personally liked the movie! I love this style of solving the puzzle at the end of the movie.

I don't think there's a sequel as I think it's all well explained at the end of the movie. Also the director and writer of the movie ended up their working relationship so I think that's the end for Babel. At least until now.

The guy that broke the border gate well... It's obvious that the story was not around him but it leaves that up to your imagination. Although by knowing stories from the border one must suppose that the guy just ran into the US and got lost and never going back to his town. He could have been caught and deported back to Mexico. Or he could just have died in the way and not have the same luck as her aunt or mom, etc...

Cheers!

I thought it was the most over-rated piece of crap that I've seen in recent times, Blanchett did nothing in the entire film to warrant praise, the Mexico connection was one that's been played out 1000 times before & the Japanese twist was highly unbelievable.

The stand-out performer was Rinko Kikuchi and her portrayal of the deaf/mute girl..she was brilliant! anyway the film is only about choices and the vast differences in cultures, its average and its a pretty convoluted plot at that. Its not 21grams!

Though it's actually very realistic and doesn't exploit stereotypes as frecuently done. The scene of the maid's son wedding party is e-x-a-c-t-l-y as some parties I've attended to in northern Mexico. I can name hundreds of crappier and more pretentious movies.

Yeah it was good, I liked it. Definitely different but good.
