Liverpool Win 8-0!

Tue Nov 06, 2007 10:42 pm

Congrats Liverpool. After seeing Arsenal win 7-0 I thought we wouldn't see such a big scoreuntil many years...and now Liverpool have won 8-0 against Besiktas !!!!

Holy shit!  Wow!

I'm like both Arsenal and Liverpool, so whenever any of those two win big, I'm happy, and I hope that in the case of Liverpool FC, this major confidence booster is a sign of things to come, not just in the CL but also in the Premiership. Bravo, Reds!  bigthumbsup

An excellent performance by all accounts. Besiktas aren't the greatest team in the CL, but to put it in perspective, Besiktas's biggest defeat up until now was a 6-0 loss against Leeds United in the 2000-2001 season.

Jossi Benayoun put in a masterful performance, but for me Peter Crouch was the outstanding player. How he doesn't get more starts is beyond me. His name should be changed to Crouchaldinho.

They still have an uphill fight to qualify for the knockout stages, but Porto's win against Marseille helps them out a little, so it's more than possible.

Even as a Man Utd fan; an excellent result for Liverpool. I watched till half time (2-0) and was amazed to hear the final score. Great response to the last game.

It will be interesting to see what Rafa does with Babel,Benayoun and Crouch for the Fulham match. All 3 of them suffer badly from his rotation.Wouldnt be surprised if none of them play.Torres had a great game against Derby scored 2 and had scored 1 against the Chelsea the week previous to that and wasnt even brought to the to the Portsmouth game. With a better manager Liverpool could be way better off in both the Champions League and Premier League

Pretty damn awesome performance by Liverpool, that's for sure. That said, as a Besiktas player, I would avoid going back to Turkey for a few weeks, no doubt their fans are mighty p!ssed and won't exactly welcome them back with open arms.

Slightly OT, but still Liverpool related: I found this interesting video of a Milan vs Real Madrid game, where the referee stopped the game six minutes after kickoff for a minute of silence, to honour the victims of the Hillsborough disaster. The game was played just 4 days after that tragic incident.

The special thing about it was, when AC Milan fans spontaneously started to sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" midway through the minute of silence, paying tribute to the 96 people who died on that fateful day. AC Milan fans have earned my respect for this great display of solidarity and sportsmanship. May a disaster such as the one in Hillsborough never happen again.

You'll Never Walk Alone!

Now that is an overstatement.

Because he is wildly inconsistent.
