Your Fav. "Bollywood" Dance Videos

Sat Nov 10, 2007 4:11 am

Hey,

What's your favorite "Bollywood" dance video? Here's mine! I absolutely love it and I'm not kidding! I know that may sound weird from an Easter European guy, but I love everything that has to do with Bollywood. Indian movies / music is awesome!

POST YOURS!!!

Shit, you posted Kalluri Vaanil, my favorite as well.  Smile

I've never seen a Bollywod/Kollywood/Tollywood film in its entirety, but the snippets you can find all over the web are consistently hilarious. Talk about culture shock.  Smile

Here's an Indian spoof of Michael Jackson's "Thriller". It's funny in itself, but some genius added faux English subtitles that are based on what Telugu sounds like instead of an actual translation. I nearly pissed myself when I saw this version!  rotfl

This not "Bollywood." This looks like a movie from South Indian Film Industries. "Bollywood" is usually referred to Bombay Film Industries.

Since both the first two videos are not from Bollywood, I might as well continue the trend. Here's a movie that's amongst my all-time favourites. Its songs are amazing both in its original Tamil and dubbed into other languages, particularly Hindi:

Movie: Roja
Released: 1992
Director: Mani Ratnam
Music: A.R.Rahman

Song 1: Chinna Chinna Aasai ("Small small wish")

Song 2: Kaadhal Rojave ("Roja my love")

Song 3: Pudhu Vellai Mazhai ("New white rain")

No kidding, causes a lot of embarassment for me. BTW, if you really want to know what "Typical" Indian movies are about, just listen to Russell Peters take on Bollywood

Let's just rename the thread to "'Ollywood" !

I stopped watching this stuff with 'Madhumati' and "Howrah Bridge" back in 1961. There were two hilarious dance sequence trailers from Tamil movies we saw every Saturday night in the campus Open Air Theatre - one was a Birthday Party sequence and the other a bunch of guys in lungis dancing in the paddy fields...

At least the southey movies didn't take themselves seriously!

That's what I actually always wondered - does anyone take those films seriously? If so, then "Bombay, we have a problem."  duck

No sweat, every country needs its national embarrassment. Germans have socks & sandal tourists, Japan has its TV game shows, Brazil has its soap operas, the US has Dubya. Big grin

That actually made me want to see a Bollywood production from beginning to end. Although preferably not while stuck on an Air India flight.  Smile

No, I swear I love this clip. It's on my hard drive in the "when you need a laugh" folder. Big grin

Depends who youre talking to. Most immigrant groups and those interested in Race comedy will know him, the average guy on the street obviously wont.

Dil Nai Lagda

I didn't have a clue and still don't have a clue as to what the words mean, wish I did though. My girlfriend got me interested in Indian music when she sent me a few songs from the likes of Dr. Zeus two years ago. There's also the night rider song that is shown above, one of my favourites as well. These along with one more that I can't seem to find the video for; that's if there is a video for it. If i remember correctly its called Naina Vargay by Dr. Zeus as well. Just something about the way the songs are sung, the beat and other things that just gets my head rockin and limbs moving.

Didn't like the movie all that much, but I can listen to "Chinna Chinna Asai" anytime, anywhere. Everything about that song is perfect.

Race comedy

I don't think he picks on races, rather the idiocies that are rampant in different cultures.

Off the top of my head, my favorite movies are Mughal-e-Azam, Mera Naam Joker, Being Cyrus, Fire and Manthan.
None of the present movies cater to my taste, in fact, I think Bollywood is worsening by each release. I was looking forward to Madhuri's 'Aja Nachle' but the songs are mediocre at best, as most Bollywood songs these days, and I've kinda lost my excitement.

Lage raho Munnabhai was entertaining. The movie that made my stomach ache with disgust was the unfortunate blockbuster 'Rang de Bansanti'. I was absolutely shocked to see the response it got. I have seen movies trying to make money by sucking on people's nationalistic feelings, but this one just tore open the envelope. I hope the producers and writers of this torturous mockery of film making spare us anymore of their concoctions.

The following clip isn't a much when it comes to dance, but I absolutely adore the song and Asha Bhosle's voice.

I am a big Aamir Khan fan - love "Raja Hindustani", "Dil", "Lagaan", "Mann"!

Johnboy what happened to the original music from "Mohabattein" - it's all wrong in that video - also a good movie!
