Ohio State Vs. Michigan

Thu Nov 15, 2007 3:52 am

It's not quite as big as last year's #1 vs. #2 battle, who you guys going with?

It's not even a question for me, GO BUCKEYES! I'm gonna go with a 27-20 victory.

It is the biggest and best College Football rivalry there is!

Both teams are in a nasty mood this week, and I think that does favor the Bucks, who lost more last week than just a game. I think Tressel's success over UM continues, and Lloyd Carr will be shown the door.

Buckeyes 31, Michigan 20.

I could care less about this game. But I think Michigan has a fair shot playing at home. I think OSU was exposed playing Illinois, but Michigan doesn't impress me much either. I'll say 31-28 Michigan, but it's a crap shoot....penalties are a factor in this game.

OSU By at least a touchdown. U of M hasn't shown they can win with Henne or "Big Brother" Hart...and I believe there still is a question if they will play or not.

OSU no question

University of Florida (Northern Campus) - 28
App State's Bitch - 21

OSU in a BCS bowl where someone from the SEC can show them yet again the Big10 is slow. Oh wait, it would be the Rose Bowl so most likely the runner-up in the PAC10 (if Oregon makes the title game) will take the role of the SEC team this year.

Michigan shows Lloyd Carr the door though I have no idea who they would hire...maybe Charlie Weis will be available.

Have they changed to louder colors?

I'd probably care a little bit about this game if OSU hadn't already demonstrated convincingly that they didn't belong in the title game. I'm guessing that Michigan will pull it out if their coach can convince them that people will forget they're App State's whipping boys if they win the Big 10. Either way, who cares with the pussy schedule they both played.

With Lloyd Carr coaching in his final regular season game before he retires, H&H will play their hearts out so give him a win over the Ohio school. Michigan sneaks by. Besides Michigan did beat Illinois by 10 on their home turf.

They still have the Buckeyes favored slightly, they need to go into this one on fire to make up for last weeks awful showing. What a crappy weekend for Ohio football last week! My Browns blew it too against the stupid Steelers. It's tough being a Buckeye in Ann Arbor but it'll be easier when Lloyd gets the boot, he is such an arrogant ass. I think Hart and Henne will play, they have been saving them up for this one. Man I can't wait for Saturday! I think I need a sweater vest.....

I hope Michigan hires Les Miles, that way he can go underachieve with lots of talen up there as well.

Assuming we take care of business at home against USC on Thanksgiving, that should be Arizona State there meeting them in Pasadena. And if that ends up the case, I'm confident both OSU and Michigan could beat ASU, and likely solidly. If Oregon gets passed on for the title game and ends up at the Rose Bowl instead, OSU/Michigan is in for trouble. That would be a semi-interesting rematch if it's UM, but I think OSU should be able to make a game out of it with the Ducks.

That being said, I'll take the Buckeyes, 34-24.

How exactly is being the #1 team in the nation underachieving? Oh, they haven't won a national title yet under him in three years...whatever. They have a lot of talent left over from Saban's last year there. Let's see what happens in another year when it is all his players.

He's winning so that's all that matters. I wouldn't say so much a fraud as I would say he is risky with all the 4th down plays. Sooner or later they won't keep converting them and he'll look more like Ron "The Zooker" Zook with stupid play calling than the riverboat gambling lucky sonuvabitch he appears to be right now.

SEC has five:

LSU
Georgia
Florida
Tennessee
Kentucky

It's also very likely that at least one more will move back in to the rankings before the end of the season. Big Ten could easily drop to two ranked teams OTOH.

Quoting D L X (Reply 18):
Yeah, playing in the Big Ten was so easy this year.

So let's look at these "tough" scedules:

Michigan

App State - Oops

Oregon - Oops again

Notre Dame - Impressive win  sarcastic

Penn State - they were top ten, now they're ranked, barely, in one poll

Northwestern - they're so good that Duke beat them

Eastern Michigan - Cellar dwellers from a completely irrelevant conference

Purdue - Mediocre

Illinois - Finally a quality team, not exactl a signature win but worth more than the

Minnesota - sucks big

Mich St. - average win against an average team

Wisconsin - pretty much like IL

So that adds up to:

1 - Loss of the decade(I'm being nice)
1 - "Quality" loss
5 - Wins against average to quality teams
4 - Wins against pathetically bad teams

OSU

What an embarassingly bad schedule:

For starters, Youngstown, Akron, Washington, Northwestern, and Minnesota. Wow! Halfway through the season and not an opponent with a pulse

Purdue - see above

Kent St - back to checking for a pulse

Mich St, Penn St, Wisonsin - see above

Illinois - Oops

So that gives OSU:

1 loss to a 3 loss barely ranked team
6 wins against just plain bad teams
4 wins against teams that are or have been ranked, barely

But I have to go with a Michigan school over one from Ohio.

By Seniors, I know you must be talking about the crowd of old geezers that go to every game. What a lame crowd, I have never heard 110,000 people golf clap until I went to my first game at that place. At least a bunch of Buckeyes will be there to liven things up a bit.  Smile I know, I know, they are maybe a little too rowdy sometimes but they have some spirit!

I'm more interested in who Michigan will choose as its next coach. Personally I hope its someone OTHER than Les Miles. He hasn't proved much, other than the fact that he can win with Saban's recruits.

I personally think they will make an unrefusable offer to Jeff Tedford. Botttom line, take a look at whats available, there are many coaches out there better than Les Miles.

Honestly...im on BHM's side. And if you can't see what he is trying to prove, then you need to get some serious help. That is an extremely puny schedule....especially when you are calling that schedule TOUGH (Fine "Easy" in a sarcastic tone). Try playing in the SEC this year, then come and whine. (That coming from a Big 12 conference fan...our conference just didn't have much fire in it this year... confused  )

I'm interested in this game, but I'm more interested in seeing how the last couple weeks go for the entire top 10. #2 Oregon lost Thursday. Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri all play each other coming up & two of those three teams will cancel each other out in the Big 12. West Virginia plays a tough Cincinnati team tonight. And LSU may end up playing BHMBAGLOCK's Bulldogs in the SEC Championship game.

The next couple weeks will be fun. And the way this season's played out with an upset in the top 5 or 6 each week, anything can happen.

Don't have a dog in this fight, but do have two people at work--one, an OU fan, the other, a UM fan--it's fun to ride them both --especially the OU fan..since OU is a wholly-owned subsiduary of the University of Florida, and obligated to send
graduates south to perform menial tasks around our homes..

But for those of you who care as deeply as is evident here..I highly recommend "The Rivalry" on HBO. A good recounting
of what's happened in the series..and the relationship between "Woody" and "Bo." I never knew the two were friends..and that the last thing Hayes did before he died was to spend a half hour introducing Bo at an appearance in Ohio..and speaking about what their friendship meant to him. A good show for college fans..a great show for UM and OU fans!

As OSU-UM games goi, this one was pretty pedestrian, when you look at it. No scoring after early in the 3rd quarater; a defensive battle in poor conditions.

I have to think it would have been a much more exciting game if Hart and Henne are healthy. We'll never know. And now the Lloyd Carr watch is officially on. Will he get the boot? His players love him. From all accounts he's a great guy. But if you can't beat Ohio State, you won't last forever at Michigan.

BTW on this whole topic, has anyone seen the HBO special on the OSU/Michigan rivalry at all the last week? It is very well done and something worth watching for any college football fan.

Turn out the lights, the party's over...GO BUCKS! Won't be the Wolverines in the Rose Bowl this year.

And hunker down if you're in Columbus. Here come the celebratory riots.

I am in Columbus...On Campus in Fact...and for some reason...I don't think it's goning to get that bad...

Of course he is, he graduated and quarterbacked my alma mater to an undefeated season, way back when.  bigthumbsup
Personally, I think he is going to retire, 13 years has head man ( and several as an assistant) in that pressure cooker is a long time.

Perhaps Mike Hart will finally learn to keep his mouth shut. Someone needs to remind him that he is 0-4 against the Buckeyes.

Oh boy! The team can sit for another month and a half and hear about how great they are and then go out there and stink up the field like they did last year.

On a similar note I went to high school with a girl who played volleyball at UGA and she talked crap about the Gators every time and never won a game against them in her college career. It was so nice to walk down to the court after her last game and ask her how she would feel the rest of her life knowing that she never beat Florida and would never hold the SEC Champions trophy. Priceless! (and yes, I know I was being a dick but she was an ass about how great her team was.)
