NFL: Possible Pro Bowlers From Your Team?

Tue Dec 04, 2007 1:38 am

As the regular season starts winding down, it's probably not too soon to look at the most meaningless All Star game in sports-the NFL Pro Bowl.  Big grin

Still it's an honor for players to be recognized by their fans and their peers, to be voted one of the best.

For once, the Browns have a chance for multiple Pro Bowlers this year. In fact, the only Pro Bowler from the Browns since coming back was Jamir Miller in '01, I believe. His career ended the next season when he ripped his knee up.
Here's a list of Browns who have a shot at the Pro Bowl:

Should make it:

KR Joshua Cribbs
TE Kellen Winslow
WR Braylon Edwards
OL Eric Steinbach

On the Bubble:

OL Joe Thomas
QB Derrick Anderson.

Not bat, for a team that didn't look like much at the beginning of the year.

What say you for your club?

I'm not able to follow the NFL the way you all do, so I can't say who should go to the Pro Bowl or not. Maybe Big Ben could have a shot at the Pro Bowl this year, as he definitely improved over last year's horrible season.

As for coaches (I don't know if the public can nominate coaches or if coaches can even be nominated at all), I'd say Wade Phillips for the NFC (I hate the Cowboys, but I do give credit to him for having turned the team from one that had its QB botch the snap on a vital field goal attempt during the 06 playoffs to a possible Super Bowl XLII contender), and Mike Tomlin for the AFC (the guy had an outstanding season as an NFL rookie-headcoach).

Once again, we offer the best player on the Bills. He's Brian Moorman. The Punter.

Not many for Houston.

Andre Johnson is a Pro-Bowl player, but probably won't make it this year as he has missed most of the season. The only person that should be a lock is DeMeco Ryans - 3rd most tackles in the NFL. Our kicker Kris Brown has a remote chance. He is right up there with the leaders, but since they probably only take 1 kicker, he probably will not make it since our team has been so bad this year. Daunte Robinson was having a pro-bowl year (again) until he ripped his hamstring off the bone and is gone for the season.

QB Drew Brees.
RB Reggie Bush (not necessarily for rushing, but for challenging for the NFC lead in receptions)

Bubble:
WR Marques Colston
CB Mike McKenzie

Big Ben should make at least 2nd string. Maybe 3rd behind Peyton Manning.

Quoting LTU932 (Reply 1):
Mike Tomlin for the AFC (the guy had an outstanding season as an NFL rookie-headcoach).

Is that to imply that we'll lose the AFC Title game? I believe that the losing coach in the title games is the coach for the NFC/AFC conference...

Other Pro Bowlers from the Steelers:
RB Willie Parker (starter - leads AFC in yards rushing)
TE Heath Miller
WR Hines Ward
WR Santonio Holmes
G Alan Feneca (although he has been weak in recent games)
SS Troy Polamalu
LB James Harrison (Starter)
LB James Farrior
CB Ike Taylor (I believe he made a key play to preserve the shutout against Seattle by breaking up/intercepting a pass in the endzone)

There, with QB Big Ben, that's 10 from my team... although I think about 6 of those will make it in...

Doesn't every team have to be represented at the Pro Bowl? Or is that just the baseabell All Star game?

Colts:

Peyton Manning (prob. going to hit at least 30 TD's AGAIN...and will prob hit 4,000+ passing yards AGAIN...woo-hoo!)
Joseph Addai (hopefully, he's a hell of a player)
Bob Sanders (amazing, if underrated, player)

Usually Adam Vinateri would go in that list but probably not this year....too inconsistent.

Saints:

Drew Brees (maybe...)

Oh! I was trying to find something witty to say, and you came up with one. Good post!  bigthumbsup

How about the "gator" bowl, as in he was injured last week after one of my team's guys stepped on him.  ouch

HELL NO! Of course I want to see the Steelers go all the way to win the Super Bowl.

If that's true, then I withdraw my suggestion for Mike Tomlin, and instead just keep Wade Phillips as a possible coaching candidate for the Pro Bowl.

I don't think he will be in the pro bowl because I think Dallas is going to the Super Bowl (yuck - I hate Dallas). However, I think he will win Coach of the Year hands down.

I really hope the Browns are represented at the Pro Bowl. Our last pro bowler was jamir Miller in 2002.

That's not even a debate now. Cribbs, Winslow, Steinbach and Edwards should be locks now.

For Cribbs not to make it would be an abomination! If some Steelers "special teams" players are selected and he's not, then that's a HUGE abomination!

here's a question:

Is the ProBowl totally based on Fan votes? or is there a "behind the scene" committee that ultimately decides?

No. The voting for the Pro Bowl rosters is determined by fans, players, and coaches. Each group picks one-third of the roster.

OK. For the Vikings, the following should have good shots at the Pro Bowl:

RB Adrian Peterson (hands down, Rookie of the Year)
OG Steve Hutchinson
C Matt Birk

Outside chance:

DT Pat Williams
S Darren Sharper
LB E.J. Henderson (not likely)
CB Antoine Winfield (injured, not likely)
DT Kevin Williams (not likely, due to low sack numbers)

Let's see, if Drew Brees were to go the Pro Bowl, that would mean he was sent ahead of Brett Favre, Tony Romo, and Matt Hasselbeck.....somehow I'm doubting it. Saints won't be sending anyone this year...

...just thought of something, and since I never watch the Pro Bowl I gotta ask.....the NFL doesn't have that same stupid rule as the MLB that says that each team has to have a representative at its respective all-star/pro-bowl game, does it?!

Bress has more yards then Hasselbeck, but also has more INT's with the same amount of TD's. So that will be a crap shoot-at least at this point.
