Why Is This Man Smiling?

Thu Dec 06, 2007 2:58 am

Why is the man on the right smiling? Because he's completed all his training requirements and now is a bottled in bond newly minted combat medic.

the one on the right with the loopy grin is my son.

Tell him have fun at FTX and make sure he gets a gask mask that works!  vomit  Tell him congrats, welcome to the best MOS in the Army!!!

Congratulations to your son and yourself!  bigthumbsup  Even if I don't share his apparent fascination with mud, filth and the military!  duck

BTW... Is it just me or does the guy in the middle look alarmingly like Dubya?  Smile

We're a family of late bloomers anyway-I did not get my law degree until I was 48.

So I send one of those "anyone home?' messages and surprise surprise I get a return, he's in Santa Fe, New Mexico and then on to San Antonio for medic training which it now seems is a turning point in his life.

Congratulations, that's great news. I can personally attest what it's like to reach a turning point in your life. Last fall I got fed up with who I was an since then I've lost 145 pounds, raised my GPA 0.5 points overall, and improved tremendously as a musician. It's such a fantastic thing to see someone turn around like that.

One of my aunts graduated from Ole Miss Law School at 44. It's takes a lot of guts to do stuff like that.

Ditto. I figured if I was in right now, I'd want to be a corpsman in the Navy (alongside Marines) - John Bradley from Flags Of Our Fathers is largely the kind of serviceman I'd like to be in that role. Here's to your son fitting the same mold.
