Going by the thread title, I mistakenly thought you were asking about everyone's favorite seedy bar.

It is absolutely gorgeous. You can kick out anywhere around the island and you will find a great dive spot. There are also alot of shipwrecks and dive spots around the island. I would definitely recommend going if you haven't before.

I'm going to the keys today to get my advanced open water (NAUI)
I'll be diving the wrecks of the Duane, Speigel Grove, and the Benwood. I'm also doing a night dive and some other dives.
I'm really looking forward to it, then i can update this post.

1. All-around divespot

Probably a tie between French Polynesia and Cozumel for #1. Moorea had incredible coral and lots of sharks. Every dive there is a shark dive. Cozumel just has an amazing reef. All of the dives on the Palancar reef were spectacular. Second place goes to Grand Cayman.

Quoting AF340 (Thread starter):
3. Freshwater divespot

Never dove in freshwater except my certification dives in a rock quarry in Huntsville, TX. Yucky

Quoting AF340 (Thread starter):
4. Wreck

Probably the Jane C. in Aruba. The airplane dives in Aruba are also great. The Bahama Mama in Nassau is also nice. I am diving the Thistlegorm in the Red Sea in Feb, one of the greatest overall wrecks, so I expect my answer to change soon.

Best overall dive - Giant Manta night dive, Kona, Hawaii. Was freakin incredible.

I went there in the summer but didn't do the Manta dive. I've heard it's great, well the diving in Kona is amazing anyway. Who did you go with? I did my day dives with Torpedo Tours, they were really good.

I did the night dive with Jack's Dive Locker. They were okay. Kind of cattle car like. It may just be that way for the night dive, as so many people want to do it. They also had snorkelers on the boat as well that made it crowded. The overall dive was incredibly crowded as there were 5 dive boats all in close proximity doing the same dive at the same time. Since it was night, everyone had glow sticks tied to the back of their tanks so you could tell the groups apart. However, green and blue look a lot alike underwater! Overall, still definitely worth it and would do it again.

Tobacco Bay, Bermuda

Firgive my ignorance...I'm SUCH a bad Bermudian (and a non-diver), but what's to see in Tobacco Bay? I would have thought one of the offshore wrecks would have been more interesting...

It's fun! Lots of critters there to see. I recall a monstrous parrot fish that used to follow me around while snorkeling. I once took a loaf of bread down with me any every critter in the area came out of the reef. I have spied octopus, squids, stingrays, and other in Tobacco Bay. Watch out for falling golf balls.

Have you ever tried the snorkel park in Dockyard? I understand it's quite lovely....not diving, but close...

Poor Knights Islands, New Zealand are pretty great... they are rated by many to be one of the Top 10 dive sites in the world... I think even PADI has said that at one time or another....http://www.diving.co.nz/divemap.htm
other places in New Zealand that are interesting are the Rainbow Warrior wreck (about 30m/90ft deep) and nearby is an RNZN frigate that was sunk to make a dive wreck also.
A former Luxury Russian Cruise liner (Mikhail Lermontov) ran aground and sunk and is considered one of the most accessable large wreck dives in the world. http://www.burysac.org.uk/reviews/lermontov2000
56 types. 38 countries. 24 airlines.

3. Rubicon Point, D.L. Bliss State Park, Lake Tahoe, CA
4. MV Odyssey, Roatan, Honduras
5. Annie's Bommies, Taveuni, Fiji

This list will probably change in May. I will have completed Rescue Diver training, and will be on my way to Manado, North Sulawesi, Indonesia to dive Bunaken and Lembeh for 2 weeks. Woohoo! Can't wait!
It's been swell, but the swelling has gone down.
