The Unicef Picture Of The Year (2007)

Tue Dec 18, 2007 8:10 pm

Oh yes people this is a "happy" marriage between 40 year old Mohammed and 11 year old Ghulam from the Damarda village in Afghanistan's Ghor province. And the year IS 2007, should you wonder.

UNICEF link

Utterly, utterly disturbing to say the least

Sick!!! In America that would be a felony. A quote from the proud parents of the bride.

"We needed the money", Ghulam's parents said.
It's not a near miss it's a near hit!!

You should probably point out that this is not something UNICEF condones, rather this illustrates a problem UNICEF are fighting. There are a number of people on this forum who are quick to shit over any organization with UN in it and this is likely where some of our less knowledgeable members would have taken this...

Well, anyone who reads the link (and who has anything resembling a modicum of reading comprehension) would be able to see that as well. As much beef that I give the UN, UNICEF is one of their truly bright stars, and does admirable work in bringing the plight of children worldwide to light.
