Here's the deal... a month or so ago my Athlon XP 2100+ machine died, taking one hard drive and the mobo with it. I decided that since most of the components were still good (brand new 500W power supply bought after the failure, both optical drives, floppy, IDE Zip 100, case, a butt ton of fans) I would replace the necessary 'guts' with new parts. I wanted to give it some later upgrade-ability, but I'm on a bit of a budget, so what I've chosen is:
Mobo: Asus M2N-E SLI (It has 4 SATA and 2 PATA/IDE ports, which I need)
Proc: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000
RAM: Mushkin 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 PC800
HD: Western Digital 250GB 7200RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
Video: XFX GeForce 8400GS 512MB PCI-E 16x
(I'm not playing anything resembling the latest games on it, that will be ample for what I need)
I've installed the OS (Windows XP) from scratch a few times on new hard drives before, but never had to deal with setting up the BIOS and all that stuff.
How would I go about doing that? I do not do ANY overclocking... if I want to go faster I'll buy faster stuff.
Thanks in advance.
