Ipod Touch New Software...

Thu Jan 17, 2008 1:41 am

Has anyone else who owns an ipod touch seen the new January software pack that has been released?

It adds the addition of google maps, notes, stocks and shares, weather, etc. Looks great and is ok for £12. I go to the link and i cannot work out how to download it from the itunes store?

Has anyone else manaeged to do it yet? I've downloaded the newest software update for my ipod yet it still wont work. The itunes store link only has a remind me later tab.

Grrrrrrr

Yes I see the link also. I updated my itouch software and it doesn't work for me either. Maybe it's just a preview, and the actual software is coming out later.

I hope so, i fancy using the new software and seeing what it is like.

Looks damn good. Shame the Airbook doesn't look as good though! Nice idea just not quite powerful or flexible enough for most. It will sell in millions though.

i think having to pay for the update is not cool at all. I paid 500 bucks for this thing already, another 20 is small change, but you would have thought that future updates were included in the cost, just as all previous ipod and iphone updates were.

Same sentiment here - I got my 8GB as a Christmas present (selling for 299USD) but I'm not excited at paying for the update.

If I come into an "extra" $20, I might get it. Some of these features are cool, but they aren't super useful to me.

Mail: Looks cool, but most of my emails are not that important.
Maps: Useful, for sure, but of course, only where you have wifi. Lost in the woods? You're screwed.
Weather: I can settle for looking outside.
Stocks: Don't own any.
Notes: Whatever it is, I'll just remember it, or use my phone.

I've had an Ipod Nano for almost two years. Saw a colleague's new Ipod the other day, and it makes me wish my Nano would die, so that I could get a new one!

Well i have just managed to update my touch to have the new software.

I think to be able to purchase the update you need to have the latest software installed on your ipod and you need to have downloaded itunes 7.6.

Just played with it and while it's a bit cheeky to ask £13 for something which should be free the maps and notes tool's are a great feature to have now and make things a lot easier! With these new apps ill be using the touch for a lot more things. Worth the money i think.

I just updated mine. Email is great, and the note feature is handy. I think it should have been a free update though.
