Favorite Band?

Mon Feb 11, 2008 2:23 pm

Everyone out there has a band who's music never gets old. For me, I can listen to any Coldplay song (except 'A Whisper') without getting tired of it. My favorites would have to be Fix You, Speed of Sound, X & Y, The Scientist, Amsterdam, A Rush of Blood to the Head, A Message, and Talk.

How about you?

Cheers,
Kyle

311...

They were one of my very first albums, and through the thick and thin of life, seven studio albums later, I just keep going back to them. It never gets old.  thumbsup

I couldn't possible choose; I can think of at least ten which would fit into that category - producing music which I never get tired of listening to, from several different genres.

Undoubtedly Dream Theater.

Nine studio albums over their 22 year career and eight world tours. No matter what song of theirs I listen to, I enjoy every second if it.

Jeez, it's hard to say. I think a toss up between Billy Talent and Sum 41. I've seen both in concert (BT twice), and Sum 41 was disappointing, while BT is always excellent. The Lost Prophets and The Red Hot Chili Peppers are another two I love.

Lately I've really grown to like Sportfreunde Stiller, who our German members would know. I find Alles Roger and Heimatlied such unique and catchy songs... It's a shame their catchment area is only the German-speaking world.

Since you said "Band," I'd have to say either The Beatles or King Crimson (of course, there have been about 7 incarnations of Crimson). Then again, music isn't all about bands. There's always Mingus, Monk, Coltrane, Shostakovich, Bartok, Beethoven, Stravinsky...

But if I had to be stuck on a deserted island with the music of just one artist, it would unquestionably be Dylan.

Rage Against the Machine

Guns n' Roses

Hard choice, there is a lot I like around right now, I go to enough gigs, a good indication.

But, it has to be British Sea Power , for me, they work on so many levels.
Exciting, certainly my favourite live, as last week's show in London, my 10th time seeing them in 5 years, demonstrated again.
But the new album, Do You Like Rock Music? , really captures the live shows, the sense that a song is about to collapse, yet it charges on and sounds brilliant.
It's their 3rd album, the best so far.

Not likely to really bother the upper reaches of the charts, but so what?

Based in Brighton, they come from rural Cumbria, are as arty as they can be mental, as mesmerising doing a slower song as when they are letting rip.

I like the way they think.
(That they actually think is a bonus in itself).
