Need Hotel For Overnight Layover In MAD

Mon Mar 03, 2008 3:20 pm

I and two friends have an overnight stop in Madrid and I need some info on a good hotel. I've been in most of Europe, but never in Madrid, so I don't have a clue where to stay. Are we better off getting an airport hotel or going downtown? How is the public transportation for going downtown? Even if we stay near the airport we may want to go into the city a bit. We are looking for a good price, not luxury! We arrive Sunday, April 6, at 6:10 PM, and leave April 7 at 12:05 PM. Most of the budget hotels I checked only accomodate 2 guests per room. Any and all advice will be welcome. Thank-you!

Melia Barajas.

Was there last week. They have a shuttle service that takes you to the terminals.

90 Euros.

Big rooms, nicely furnished.

That way you will have ample time in the evening to explore the city center.

The airport has a metro stop, so getting to the city is very easy!

Whatever you do book in advance... DO NOT use the hotel booking desks inside the airport... I was robbed I'm sure. Paid well in advance of €100...
