Best/Worst Fight You've Ever Seen?

Fri Mar 07, 2008 1:43 am

The other day I saw the craziest fight at school. I was sitting at my table which is near the vending machines when two black kids come out of know where and start going at it with their fists. It was a pretty good fight and we were all chanting them on. It went on for a good twenty seconds and as time went on the kids began to gather around. Then, all of a sudden one of the kids falls flat on the ground. No, he didn't collapse. He didn't fall on his hands or knees. He fell straight down like a plank. At this point, a few "oohs" were let out and most people stopped chanting. There was still quite a bit of noise though.

The teachers came around but one of them was at least 65 and the other weighed probably 120 lbs, so neither of them really got involved. They just stood there and waited for an officer to come or for it to be over. I don't even know where the officer was, they were fighting right in his spot. Anyway, the kid was down on the ground and he was laying there for probably 5 seconds and everyone was wondering what was going on. The other fighter was getting rowled up during this period and let out a vicious, graphic kick-stomp blow to the head.

All the chanting stopped, and I simply stood there with my mouth open, literally. It was one of the most graphic things I've ever seen. He did 3 more stomp-kicks and finally left. The other kid was just laying there. Finally, the cop came and a couple other kids, some of whom work as lifeguards, dragged him to the wall. He left a couple of lines of blood on the floor. They were messing around with him and they tried to pick him up but he instead collapsed back on the ground. Then, the sixth period bell rang, and it was off to class for everyone, most still in shock of what they saw.

I later learned that day that the poor kid was taken out on a stretcher and rushed to the emergency room. On the announcements yesterday, the principal came on and said the kid suffered from a broken nose and internal head trauma. He also said the man who kick-stomped him was expelled, wouldn't graduate that year as a senior, and has been charged with assault. I learned today at lunch the kid might even die, though from a source who heard it from a friend who's a friend... I wouldn't call this the best fight I've ever seen because it had extremely negative consequences, but it was certainly the most graphic. So what's the best/worst fight you've ever seen?

One time back in the mid-1970's at a NJ shore town visit, I saw 2 young women with tube tops (that was the hot style then) got into a fight outside of a bar. Apparently they had both been drinking and starting arguing over a guy. They started a 'catfight' and started to pull off each others tube top...got a lot of attention from the guys and them cheering them on. Then some bouncers from the bar broke in and stopped the fight... damm.

That's not assult; that's attempted murder.

Is the other guy over 18? If so, he probably has a needle and a chair waiting for him.

Well, it came from the principle's mouth that he was charged with assault.

I'm not sure. Like I said, I heard it from a guy at our lunch table who knows someone who is friends with the victim and went to see him in the hospital... so it's like the "heard it from your mother's cousin's friend's dog" type thing. I am not quite sure I can believe it, but if it's true, it's horrible news.

My mouth just dropped open as I read this. I hope the other guy gets convicted of attempted murder.

I've only ever witnessed one fight at my school, or ever. It was back in grade 9 and I was standing in line in the hall waiting to buy my lunch. A black kid was getting a drink from the fountain and some Asian kid comes up next to him and punches him in the side of the head. He puts him in a head lock and they start punching each other. They bang into lockers and at one point almost smash into me. The got to about 1 foot away from me. It lasted maybe for about 1 minute before one of their friend's and a security person pulls them apart. It wasn't a very serious fight.

I saw some guy get stabbed to death in a bar near Philadelphia about 20 years ago. The guy that got knifed was supposedly cheating at pool (there was illegal betting going on) and the guy that he was playing against knifed the soon-to-be dead guy in the guts several times. The stabbed guy staggered out onto the street in front of the bar, bounced off a parked car (leaving a huge smear of blood down the side of the car), and dropped to the ground.

The paramedics and cops were there within a few minutes, but the guy died on the way to the hospital. The unknown guy that stabbed him took off out the back door - I don't think that the local police ever found him.

It certainly seems that way. Real stupid of the kid to do something like that with lots of people around him like that too ... but I'm guessing he probably wasn't thinking too much about what he was doing at the time.

In high school, most of the fights I saw were in the cafeteria. I always knew there was a fight when chairs started flying - not literally, but a bunch of people standing up at once shoving their chairs back to watch ... it made quite the racket.

The best fight I remember seeing happened literally right in front of me - about five feet away. I was walking down the hall and I saw this kid come up to this other kid and say "What's Up M-Fer?" and punch him in the face ... you can imagine where it went from there.

I saw quite a few drunken idiot fights on the ped mall in Iowa City while I was at the University of Iowa, but those were all just stupid drunken men fighting over the way some other asshole looked at him.

At least high school fights are (usually) between sober people.

How could that possibly be bad?

I saw a few fights in school, but usually they weren't that serious. For one thing, I grew up in Germany and attended a US Military base school where most of the student's parents were either soldiers or airman. If a student got into enough trouble at school, his family could get sent back to the states by the military. With this acting as a sort of deterent for this kind of behavior...

Not "best" or "worst", but possibly "most bizarre":
As I pulled into the parking lot of a local gay bar, the headlights of my car illuminated a drag queen sitting on the chest of some redneck guy and hitting him on the head with the heel of her spike-heeled shoe. When I parked the car and got out, I could hear her saying "I (whack!) TOLD (whack!) YOU (whack!) NOT (whack!) TO (whack!) FUCK (whack!) WITH (whack!) ME!!! (whack!). Once I got closer to them I realized that I knew the drag queen and that there was every chance she might seriously injure him, so in my calmest voice I said "Bronzie, if you'll quit beatin' on him and come inside, I'll buy you a drink", to which she replied "Oh, hey baby! I'll be along in a second". She then held her shoe in a threatening manner over redneck guy's head and said "THAT is how you talk to a lady! You got somethin' else to say?!?". Redneck guy just groaned in response, Bronzie hopped off his chest, put her shoe back on, and walked inside the bar like nothing had happened.

I don't know how to determine if it was a good fight or a bad fight, if you enjoy fighting and blood I guess it was good, if you don't I guess it was bad.

I worked as a doorman at a club during university and we'd always get fights, anyhow, things got out of hand one night when we were trying to escort a guy out of the club, his friends didn't like it and fists were flying everywhere. The police were already at the bar (as they always are in Windsor, I normally have an officer next to me when I'm working) but even they couldn't initially control the fight, the officers were fighting, I was in there fighting and trying to grab people and throw them out of the way, but in the end people started using broken beer bottles to fight.

In the end no one was seriously hurt, I ended up with 10 stitches on my head, a few other doormen and bouncers were cut, and one police officer accompanied us to the hospital because someone had thrown a bottle at his head (he was alright thankfully). In the end a bunch of people ended up in the "state sponsored bracelets" and I went home from the hospital and got a bonus from the club owner the next day.
It may be too early to drink scotch... But it is NEVER too early to think about it...

Actually, it is likely neither based on what the OP said. It is likely felony battery. Then again, Virginia's criminal code is so oddly written, who knows?

Um, absolutely not. It almost certainly would not meet the criteria in any state for the death penalty.

I dunno... I think getting into a few fights when you are growing up, may be a good thing.

Now, I'm not saying that what Evan described was a good thing... it certainly wasn't! What he described was out of control rage. But what I am talking about is simple fights between kids growing up. When I was growing up, I went to a decent school, lived in a decent neighborhood... but when I would walk home from school I would be harassed by older kids. And if I didn't do what they said - which I wouldn't - they would fight me. So I quickly learned how to protect myself, and how to fight effectively. So after a few good scuffles, the older kids didn't bother me because they knew I could hold my own.

And learning that skill of how to fight and protect myself has come in handy a few times in my life. So I think learning how to fight is a "good" thing. There is nothing wrong with boys getting into fights when they're growing up. But there is definitely a line that we knew not to cross. I don't know if today's generation has the self-control and respect to know when to stop.

Totally agree there. thumbsup

The biggest fight I ever got into was when I told my Mom I was joining the Army! Mom could rival Beverly Sills when she starts screaming! As you might guess, Mom is an ultra-liberal and I'm just the opposite. When she asked why, I told her to serve my country like my Father and both Grandfathers before me. Mom was not prepared for that one. I got a backhand and an "Asshole" comment! Haven't seen her in 20 years!!!  bigthumbsup

Learning how to fight is definately a good thing, as is learning how to not be in a situation where you have to fight. I have only had to come to blows once, and it actually wasn't till I was 22 years old. I tried what I could to avoid it and then made quick work of the situation once I got attacked. Otherwise, I have always been able to end the situation before anything actually happened, which is always the way to go.

The closest thing i ever witnessed to a fistfight was when i was in college. My redneck craphead roommate at the time, had gotten drunk at a school social, so of course he was ejected for trying to force a girl to have sex with him, he came home, stripped his clothes off, and went into our suitemates' room in his underwear, accusing one of them of stealing something of his, Sean, the suitemate in question, had something of a snap temper, it didn't take much to set him off, he physically grabbed my roommate, pushed him through the adjoining bathroom and slammed him on his bed, physically pinned him down and proceeded to let my roommate know that if he continued his behavior it would not be good for his health. My roommate was pretty freaked out, but he decided not to push it. Sean was a walk on football player, and i think my roommate knew that Sean could kick his ass pretty good if he was so inclined.

I've also witnessed some pretty good knock down drag out arguments between a friend i was living with for a short time in California, who unbeknownst to me had an extremely violent temper, and his wife. On one particular occasion my friend (ex-friend now) was throwing his wifes clothes down the stairs screaming at the top of his lungs "get out, get the f---- out."
the sad thing was, their kids were in the next room, they had to listen to the whole thing.

The funniest thing i saw in high school was in Health Class, one kid, a geek, was chewing gum, rather loundly, and the teacher told him to get rid of it, well, Mr. Geek decided that rather than get up and walk to the trashcan, he'd try and hit a rimshot with it from his seat. He took the gum out of his mouth, threw it, it arced up and landed in a jock's hair. One of the jock's buddies told him that the geek had thrown the gum, he turned around and stared at the geek in this menacing way and said "you're just lucky we're in class." he then got up to go cut the gum out of his hair.

One of the best fights I've ever seen, and one that still sticks in my mind was back in my first year of high school. Two girls decided to get stuck into it at lunchtime, they were kicking, screaming, scratching and wailing. Drew a pretty decent crowd too (after the chant went out "sheila fight, sheila fight"), all cheering them on.... Then a male teacher decided to be the hero and go in and break it up...BAAADDD mistake, no sooner had he started to intervene, they both turned on him and started to savage him instead of each other...it was WILD!!!!

That is more than assault. The Principle is a moron.

The best fight I ever saw was a few years ago when I was at my friends house. I heard yelling outside and stepped outside with my Glock Model 22 handgun to see what the problem was. 2 houses down their were 10-15 mixed race subjects yelling and shoving each other. Everybody started fighting and it looked like a brawl. Then some dude pulled up in a Cadillac, got out and started whacking people with a bat. 2-3 subjects were knocked out and bleeding from being hit with the bat. The cops then showed up and everybody fled the area. I found out later they did round up several subjects involved in the fight and the dude with the bat was charged with aggravated battery.

Kinda spooked me reading this and fired up the adrenaline. The first thing which came to my mind was

1) the fact you all stood around and watched. Where I come from people help each other and diffuse situations because they know the possible UNWANTED outcomes, such as accidental death.

2) I would feel disgusted if I was in your shoes because I simply would not be able to get over the fact I sat there, and did not even bother to round some people up to at least stop the fight from happening.

3) goes to show the lack thereof respect, dignity, self respect, etc . in some schools . God forbid they look at each other as future leaders, or perhaps wanting educations to advance and be happy in life .

As for the worst I have seen... a kid after school (entire front of my old high school crams with people waiting for buses etc), randomly 3 20 year old men, walk up to this gr 10 and smash a beer bottle over his head and kick him in the face simply because "he believed he didn't address his GF in the proper tone at the store" or something ridiculous. Well, these guys then ran , followed by about 30 gr 11 / 12s, a few in their cars.... one opened his door as he was travelling dove at the ass who smashed the bottle over the kids head, and pretty much beat the crap out of him until the cops arrived. His friends were smashed up a bit to given the seniors who thought it was kind of disgusting to do such a thing. This was all from my after school math class window  Smile . " Hey sir, some kid just got his head bashed in with a bottle now a mob is chasing him " .... teacher runs to window then to phone ... and within a few the VPs etc, were there so , interesting day to say the least.

As for my worst fight (Rather pathetic tbh)

Lunchtime and we're playing football out on the field. I put my bag down as the "goalpost" and some of my other mates were not letting this other few lads play with them (Yea, I know, bit sad) and as "revenge" they randomly start throwing bags along with mine all over the field etc. I discover that the case on my 2 week old mobile has been cracked. I walk over to the kid who was doing it and show him. He laughs and demanded for him to pay for the new case. He walked off laughing but I thought I'll leave it 'til tomorrow and see if he sees sense. Next day, he doesn't and kept taking the piss so I just walloped him in the face (Bad Aim) in the eye and broke his glasses. He runs off crying to the head and next thing I know I've been suspended for a day and will be receiving a bill for new glasses! Piss Take!

2) High Schoolers so say 15-18, still growing up and sometimes may not be able to either process or get over the shock of what they saw. Look at it this way, on 9/11 we couldent stand the images, but we couldent stop watching.

3) As for defusing that situation, whos to say that interfering could escalate it. Whos to say one of them doesnt have a weapon.

4) If its not your fight, its not your bussiness, imo, stay away unless you are prepared to defend yourself. I for one dont feel like fighting...

I do not feel like fighting either. However it comes down to morals and ethics. It is what I believe to be the right thing to do. I would indeed try and help a kid getting his head kicked in if I had the immediate power to do so.

The best fights I've ever seen have been online. However, in this case "best" would probably actually be better described as "worst" fight I've ever seen when it comes to pure combat skill. It gave me a damn good laugh though!

This was pretty funny too, but I don't think it came to exchanging blows? I like the little dance he does at the end!

Why didn't you run out there and stop this!?!?!  Wow!

You're telling me that you just sat there in your classroom and watched this... and all you did was tell a teacher!? Wow you should be disgusted in yourself and feel like total crap for not rushing out there to stop this fight! You had a moral and ethical obligation to stand up for what is right! How disappointing!!!!

I agree with you. I remember in high school jumping in to stop fights, normally so many people would jump in the fight was done before it could really get started.

I agree somewhat. In my mind a good fight is 1 on 1, and when the first person goes down for an extended period of time the fight is over. But if there's a situation where people are ganging up on another person I'd jump in there to try and stop it.

Look at the headline from today's Toronto Sun

Where was the help for these kids?

That is actually my comment to the OP. If I saw a guy getting the best of someone and continuing to beat on him, or even going to the kinds of extremes as mentioned here, I would put a hurting on them.

I really wish I could act like that, and I'm sure we all know we should, but it's that sort of behaviour that gets you stabbed. If you've got any sense to learn to stay away from trouble, and when you see it to get the suitable people involved to stop it, but to dive into 10 people beating up 3 guys? Sorry, but I live in the real world, and the real world where I live means what's gonna happen is you get 10 people beating up 4 guys. I really love the idea of all the bystanders joining together in a self governed community police force to stop it, but it doesn't work like that. It's every man for himself in these situations unless you're a muppet with a death wish-no joke, not a few months ago local news was reporting a stabbing in a school canteen. This was 15 year old kids. These days you get more than just a black eye if you get involved with these sorts of things.

It's not that I don't see your point, and don't wish we could do more, but it's too dangerous to go around getting in the way of other people's fights when you don't know them or what they're capable of.

I think getting into a few fights when you are growing up, may be a good thing.

I completely disagree. Getting into fights is never a good thing. That said...

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 12):
So I think learning how to fight is a "good" thing.

I have to say while I never liked fights or being involved it's something that cannot always be avoided at least in the town I grew up in a town of 3300. Maybe I was too nice who knows.

I always minded tried to my own business but we had quite a few bullies and I always found myself having to defend myself playing at the local town park which had a playground we had this small kids gang that would come in and surround us finally I was able to grab a big stick and whacked two of them IIRC they never bothered me again after that I wasn;t proud if having to whack them with the stick but I think it got the point across.

Then there was this kid same age and same grade that was pschizophrenic he was a big kid that liked to show off by putting hot sewing needles on his skin after rubbing them really fast to make them hot in High School and I remember vividly he dared a couple people to whack him over the forehead with a piece of wood and acted like he didn't feel pain. another time in 11th grade he came after me got me on the ground and elbowed me in the eye on purpose my eye swelled shut. Last I heard the guy is serving life in prison for killing someone.

I remember one time when I played baseball in high school was getting dressed for practice some guy kept smarting off to me when I was having a bad day next thing I know we were punching for a good 3 minutes luckily every one else was on the field while we were in the locker roomor we would have got in big trouble.

The most graphic was I seen a this guy in downtown Spokane while wating for a city bus to go home around the bus stops he went after a pothead with really long hair back in the 80's (when heavy metal was big) he had a nice black leather jacket on, and the perpetrator start hitting the guy really fast and hard and within 1-2 mins guy was on the ground with a lot of blood all over his jacket right after the victim was kicked in the nose he was pretty messed up. A couple guys had to help him up and call a ambulance.

These were some of the most vivid memories of fighting that I have experienced there are other insignificant small fights I've had to defend myself in but I digress.

Point is I hate fights and certainly dont every want to experience any again and I'm really a mellow guy but it seemed like I mentioned earlier the place I lived in it was not uncommon.Kids around my age were subject to small town boredom ,getting high on drugs, drinking getting drunk and acting stupid caused a lot of these problems. Needless to say I haven't been back to that place since 1996 and dont I certainly miss it.

IIRC last couple times I was back to visit people I grew up with moved away, were jobless, doing hard drugs, in prison or dead It was a very depressing town to live in. Even the few that I still know living there that I ran in to were the same stuck up or still as immature as they were in HS. There are a few paople I knew that were pretty nice.

1) the fact you all stood around and watched. Where I come from people help each other and diffuse situations because they know the possible UNWANTED outcomes, such as accidental death.

See below:

Quoting CF188A (Reply 21):
2) I would feel disgusted if I was in your shoes because I simply would not be able to get over the fact I sat there, and did not even bother to round some people up to at least stop the fight from happening.

I'm certainly not disgusted. No one wanted to get involved for the fear of getting hurt. Like I said, two teachers were standing right there while they were duking it out. They were helpless.

The next morning on the announcements, my principal, who is a very distinguished principal at our very distinguised school, noted that in case a fight like this ever happens, it's best not to get involved. Let the two keep on fighting until they're done or until an officer comes to seperate them. It's our choice for getting involved, and if we do we suffer the same consequences as the fighters. That is, suspension/expulsion and/or injuries.

Quoting CF188A (Reply 24):
I would indeed try and help a kid getting his head kicked in if I had the immediate power to do so.

The kicker kicked him 3 times in about a period of 8 seconds. After that, he ran off. But shortly thereafter, 3 kids who specialize in paramedics as lifeguards or firemen volunteers or whatnot, came immediately and dragged him to the wall to stop the bleeding, etc.

I heard on the news yesterday of a fight that broke out in a Petersburg High School and several kids got involved. Many innocent kids were arrested, injured, and mace was being sprayed everywhere.
The proper term is "on final" not "on finals" bud...
