Good Bluray-ROM?

Tue Mar 11, 2008 4:03 am

So, now that the format war is over, I've been thinking about getting a Bluray player for my computer. The TV is probably 20+ years old, and my computer has 7.1 surround and a huge monitor, and soon a TV tuner, so I'm going to use it as my TV.

I got suckered by watching Apple's HD trailers, and now I hate watching SD DVDs... they are so blocky, blurry, and lacking in any detail and crispness. Soooo....

What is a good Bluray player? I saw this one on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106225

But I want to make sure it'll support future Bluray titles, with the advanced bluray features. I know some older bluray players weren't compatible, and those people got screwed over (with the exception of the PS3's bluray).

Any suggestions? Wait a few months, wait for the prices to come down and the players to improve?

I want a player that goes in the computer, NOT a stand-alone player.
