What Do Payphones Look Like In Your Area?

Tue Mar 11, 2008 11:02 pm

In the Uk we have :-

The Traditional Red Phone Box

The more modern box :-

These are the latest :-

BT tried to get rid of the red boxes back in the late 80's, early 90's but the Government rushed through a bill to make them all listed buildings, so they could never get rid of anymore.

All the BT ones have been updated where I live, similar to the third photo. So here's what they look like back in Ireland:

I can safely say I haven't seen a pay phone in my area in years. But of the few we had, and maybe have:

Can't get the image to show up in post, so heres the link:

Pay phone? Whats that?

Like JetsGo, I haven't seen one in YEARS. Everyone uses cellphones, or mooches off people who have them.

Before they went the way of the Dodo, they looked something like this:

No special booths, just hanging off a wall, or in a little open kiosk with a ratty old phone book.
