Bracketology

Sun Mar 16, 2008 9:54 pm

Unbelievable. We're minutes away from Selection Sunday picks, and no thread. Good thing I'm here!  biggrin

Anyway, the Illini and Clemson both bought it today, so blue and orange are out. Tough picks out there - UNC, Kansas are automatic #1's. Pitt, Georgia and Temple worked their way in there. UCLA (another personal fave) wins their way into the tourney, too.

Not sure if anyone's made an Anet bracket somewhere, but if so, and there's room, I'm up for it (otherwise, we could start another).

Who has a possible cinderella favorite to make it in there? I was hoping Illinois, but I'm still excited about this year's tournament (best tournament around  bigthumbsup  ).

Btw, for some reason, there's an ESPN link that already shows the selections - a prognostication or an early glimpse?  scratchchin

Ahh, thank you very much - using that thread for the selections, too, or did I avoid the "double-thread" here?

1 minute til selections - and watching drunk fans go nuts everywhere.

Ok, I don't have a PhD in bracketology, but I know that Duke and UConn going west is ludicrous, but that's how selections run sometimes. And Oregon?  confused  Crocketology sometimes. I see this thread is dead, too. I guess not everyone is anxious to see who plays who - or maybe people are more involved in getting their brackets ready for the office pool tomorrow.  mischievous

Nope - was hoping (against hope) for OSU - bad showing by the Big Ten, but, then, who's fault is that?

But UA had the tougher season. No excuse why they lost twice to Oregon and ASU those. So damn inconsistent.
I love ASO!

Wisconsin got screwed. Outright regular season title and big ten tournament title with a 29-4 record. #3 seed. Are you KIDDING me? They should have gotten that 2 seed over Texas. I know Texas is very good with very good wins on te year, but they still had 2 more losses and the Badgers won the head to head match-up IN Austin.

Indiana got totally screwed as well. 22-11 Oklahoma got a #6 seed, and 25-7 got a #8 in the same bracket. That is just absolutely inexcusable...and completely correctable. Just flip 'em. I know the committee has a tough job, but there are no excuses for some of the moves they made.

And I agree about the Arizona/ASU controversy. I haven't seen an explanation that justifies Arizona getting the bid over ASU.

Also, could someone please tell me how South Alabama is a #10 seed!? How are they in the tournament, let alone a higher seed than WKU which actually won the conference tournament with a nearly identical record.

My alma mater (Kent State University) is playing UNLV on Thursday in Omaha. We are the # 9 seed and UNLV is the # 8 seed... should be a good game.
